The first version of that app called WALTR, released back in 2014 that made it easier to transfer any video or audio file to an iOS device. It was one of the best apps for those need to move media around without having to use iTunes and without having to jailbreak and have it be playable. With the release of WALTR 2, the folks at Softorino have really upped their game.
Available for both Windows and Mac, WALTR 2 allows the transferring of video and audio files as usual, but things have really been refreshed by adding support for wireless transfers, additional file types and non-iOS devices (over 20 legacy iPods).
The next-generation WALTR app builds on the features introduced with the original version of the app, making it more easier and quicker than ever to transfer any file from a Mac to an iOS device. Once WALTR 2 installed, users can connect their device – iPhones, iPads and iPods are supported – and start transferring ringtones, videos, PDF & ePUB files, and all, audio files across for consuming even if the receiving device does not natively support them.
That means the magic of WALTR brought to all types of file thanks to WALTR 2. It will convert it to a usable format when necessary and put it directly in the built-in iOS video app. The same goes for music — upload any audio file and it will be transferred to the Music app with no loss of quality. Uploaded formats of audio files are even recognized in Apple Music.
WALTR 2 not only takes files and move them, though. With automatic metadata construction, users could throw music files at their iPhone and correctly tagged, ready to be picked up by Apple Music, by instance. Or perhaps a video files with the correct title etc. already assigned with no action needed on the part of the user.
Using WALTR 2 is simple. Plug your iPhone or iPad into your computer or else use the new Wi-Fi feature and then simply drag and drop the file you want to transfer to an iOS device into WALTR 2. With Automatic Content Recognition for music, movies, and TV Shows, WALTR 2 can fill in meta data info, and a new WiFi detection feature allows WALTR 2 to automatically find nearby iOS devices so transferring content can be done without any USB cable if required.
File transfers go much faster with a cable though, with the creator promising average transfer speeds of 2GB per minute. Those who find themselves moving files regularly will love that aspect of WALTR 2 almost so much as the newly added support for WiFi transfers. No need to dig that cable out just to copy a video across to an iPhone.
WALTR 2 can be downloaded now, and is available as a free trial with a lifetime license costing $39.95. Owners of a WALTR license can take advantage of the $19.95 upgrade pricing, too.
