Verizon’s Motorola DROID RAZR And Droid RAZR MAXX Gets Android 2.3.6 OTA Update

Verizon Wireless pushed the software version 6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US to the owners of the Motorola Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX. Motorola’ in the recent times produced the two best smartphones and priced at $299 for RAZR MAXX and Razr 16 GB variant is priced at $ 199.99.

Both the Motorola DROID RAZR and Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX in the form of an OTA firmware update gets the major version of Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. Will make the users happy and they will be lot happier if they receive Ice Cream Sandwich update very soon. But they have to wait until April 2012. While the Verizon released the major update for both the Motorola variants can be updated over-the-air, simlly go to Settings > About Phone > System Updates and Done.

* Improved Battery life when using Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) Bluetooth headsets.
    * Successfully save multimedia ringtones.
    * Favorite Contacts widget has been updated.
    * Improved device stability when moving between home screen panels.
    * Email icon has been updated for improved visibility.
    * When performing an Over the Air (OTA) update, the display will correctly show the remaining download time.
    * CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert Service) feature has been added.

Before you upgrade to Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread assume that you have sufficiant Battery left on your Android phone, because it take about 30 to 90 minutes for the whole updating process through OTA and while the software size is 152MB.
