Also, I’ve tested iPad 1 and it worked.

Now the time to finalize the jailbreak for old devices, fix some stability issues and package the whole. That will take some days.

In the meanwhile, I’m starting the research for iPad 2 and 4S. I’ll take you informed of my progress.

We are pleased to inform all the fellow jailbreakers that the untethered code has now been successfully tested on iPad 1 snd iPhone 3GS devices.

The only things left to be done are finalization of jailbreak for old devices, fixing of some stability issues and packaging the whole solution for the general release.

As of right now, based on Pod2g’s tweets and blog posts, the state of iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak on various iOS devices is:

Pod2G’s untethered jailbreak for iOS 5/5.0.1 is likely based on either a user-land or a kernel based exploit. Such exploits are software-based, which means when Apple engineers discover it, they can patch the exploit be just releasing an update to iOS. Similar to the JailbreakMe 3.0 Untethered Jailbreak, they released iOS 4.3.4 in the past.
