How to: Use Lion Recovery Disk Assistant To Make Mac OS X Lion Recovery Disk On External Hard Drive. Apple already released Lion Recovery Disk, this is an utility that provides the ability to create an External Bootable Recovery Dirve for OS X Lion 10.7, even if have already made your oiwn Lion Boot Disk.
This will be a good idea to Create one of these recovery Disks as a Troubleshooting Tool. According to Apple, this tool will make the external hard drive fully bootable and essentially resemble the built-in tools:
The Lion Recovery Disk Assistant lets you create Lion Recovery on an external drive that has all of the same capabilities as the built-in Lion Recovery: reinstall Lion, repair the disk using Disk Utility, restore from a Time Machine backup, or browse the web with Safari.
To Use Lion Recovery Disk Assistant – We Require:
* Mac running OS X 10.7 Lion with an existing Recovery HD partition – if you have installed Mac OS X Lion you have this
* An external USB hard drive or flash drive with at least 1GB of free disk space to hold the Recovery drive.

How to Create the Lion Recovery Disk :
* Plug anextwernal harddrive or USB flash drive into your Mac.
* Launch Recovery Disk Assistant and select the drive.
* Wait for some time to copy the recovery HD data over to the disk.
Now Boot From the Lion Recovery Disks :
To boot from the External Lion Recovery Disk :
1. Connect the Recovery Disk to the Mac
2. Now Reboot the Mac Lion and Hold down the Option Key
3. Select Recovery as your Boot Drive
This tool realy works smoothly, and some of the features will get booting from the Recovery Partition and allows you to perform OS X Install, Run disk utility to Format, Partition, Internet Restores and Time Machine Backups.
Important Note – This tool does not create a general Lion installer that can be used to upgrade other Macs or install Lion on other Macs, it’s a recovery disk.

Note: In order to create an external Lion Recovery using the Lion Recovery Assistant, the Mac must have an existing Recovery HD.
To create an external Lion Recovery, download the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant application. Insert an external drive, launch the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant, select the drive where you would like to install, and follow the on screen instructions.
When the Lion Recovery Disk Assistant completes, the new partition will not be visible in the Finder or Disk Utility. To access Lion Recovery, reboot the computer while holding the Option key. Select Recovery HD from the Startup Manager.
