The post published on Decenber 18th, when there is no tool available publickly for jailbreaking or unlocking your iPhone 4S yet. Starters and readers must configure that!
Few months ago, on October 28th, iPhone Dev Team member/hacker MuscleNerd announced that he had achieved iPhone 4S jailbreak after uploading two screenshots which verified his claim. Which however required, “LOTS of work done” and there are “huge missing pieces” are preventing its public release as well.
The breaking news came out, about a week ago, enthusiasts were given their first look at untethered jailbreak for iOS 5. The jailbreak which came from the pod2g who is very famous for discovering many exploits in iOS devices which lead him to (un)tethered jailbreaks. That video was uplaoded and shown an iPod touch untethered-jailbroken on iOS 5.0. This iPod touch was restarted in the video and it successfully booted into jailbroken state.
According to his blog post few days back, he tweets, this untethered jailbreak has been tested on all A4 devices. Confirmed that he completes the untethered code for the iPod touch 3G, iPhone 4 (GSM), original iPad, iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1. Devices left untested so far are the iPod touch 4G, Apple TV, iPad 2 and, of course, the iPhone 4S. Pod2g has not able to test his untethered jailbreak on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, but he stated that once the untether jailbreak is ready for older devices, he will then start working on making it work A5-based iOS 5 devices like the iPad 2 and 4S iPhone.
24 hors ago, he tweets that he has finally got his hands on iPhone 4S, and is working to see if he can jailbreak it with the exploit he found for iOS 5.
pod2g: Hi! I have a 4S in hand (thx). Will work hard on it this weekend.
While the jailbreak is likely based on a software-based (userland or kernel) exploit, we have a feeling he just might be able to get it working.
Oh yes, a jailbreak for the iPhone 4S is in the works and it should complety ready soon for Christmas.
Waiting for iPhone 4S unlock! MuscleNerd from iPhone Dev Team tweeted a few weeks ago that “very promising” unlock for iPhone 4S is in the works. That later dumped the baseband bootrom which means that the unlock is closer than ever to a public release.
