Earlier today, a news apparently surfaced claiming that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update already rolling out to unlocked Moto G (2014) units. Juts after, we also got report about the fact that it was nothing more than a ‘soak test’, and not an actual widespread rollout.
Motorola although made it official now: Lollipop updates for both the 2nd-generation Moto G are already going out. Currently, they will reach those devices sold in the United States – either the US-specific SKU or the “global GSM” model purchased from the US. No doubt, all the other regions will get the new software soon, now that the ball’s rolling.
Alongside Moto G, the 2014 Moto X Pure Edition also getting in to the process of receiving its taste of Lollipop, the model that runs stock Android onboard. Apparently, the soak test for the Moto X (2014) already started a few days ago, and now things went well and no bugs were found.
The Moto X got KitKat update ultimately fast last year and this year Motorola is rolling out the new Android version even faster than before Nexus devices got it. LG on the other hand set to follow suit at some point this week, releasing the Android 5.0 update for LG G3, and possibly that more manufacturers will choose to o the quick update route in the future pretty soon.
