Step 3: Now “Browse for SHSH blobs file” that you’ve saved previously for your current device to downgrade back to the old iOS 5.0.1/5.0 firmware.

Step 4: Next, iFaith will ask you to select the stock firmware of which you want to create custom firmware file from. Once done, iFaith will have a new custom firmware file for you waiting on desktop with SHSH Blobs incorporated for the firmware you are downgrading to.

Step 5 : Next, enter DFU mode using iFaith and then simply use iTunes to restore to this custom firmware file. For Windows users [Shift+restore] and Mac OS X users [ALT+restore].

That’s it! If you followed the instruction perfectly, you will be now in the older iOS firmware instead being in the latest iOS 5.1.1. Downgrading will be simple if you have saved SHSH blobs of the iOS IPSW.

WinterBoard was created by Jay Freeman, better known as Cydia mastermind Saurik. Simply by installing you can easily implement various ready-made themes for your device home screen, lock screen, Notification Center etc – all of which rely on WinterBoard in order to work on.

I have already shared some great looking iPad 2 themes and iPhone themes compatible to the latest versions of iOS 5.0/5.0.1 and the 5.1 firmware, all for free. Top of the best iOS themes which were choosen by me “Grabi”.

The improvements for WinterBoard have been trickling in through the last couple of days, and as far as iOS 5 is concerned, the most significant improvement is the “SpringBoard Scroll Lag” is no more, providing SummerBoard Mode is deactivated.

For those running iOS 4 and iOS 5, there have been some issues with the respring button. In order for a selected theme to come into effect, a respring must take place, but it hasn’t been functioning as it should. As per the changelog, users should be able to respring within the WinterBoard app without so much as a hiccup. This ever-reliable tool has just been updated quite significantly, adding the ability for iPhone 4 GSM/CDMA, 4S users to save BBTickets for use at a later date. Also supported is iPad 3G, iPad 2 3G, iPad 2 CDMA, iPad 3 GSM, and iPad 3 CDMA.

According to another hacker ih8sn0w, they are baseband-related, thus saving them will certainly increase your prospects of unlocking your iPhone in future. While TinUmbrella dev Notcom has suggested previously of such a feature, and although hasn’t disclosed much regarding how the BBTickets will actually pan out.

How important : This new release of TinyUmbrella which implemented BBTicket saving  for iPhone’s, the BBTicket will most likely be utilized in future downgrading methods so it is reccomended that any users who wish to downgrade in the future use this new version of TinyUmbrella to save not only their SHSH but also their BBTicket.

This will work to save BBTickets for iPad2 and iPad3 on GSM or CDMA. Make sure that you don’t have “Request SHSH from Cydia” checked under advanced settings, and also make sure that you have the overwrite option checked so that your SHSH will be overwritten with the BBTicket included.

Seems to have been a little confusion among those downloading the new version of TinyUmbrella, labeled version 5.10.14. Since BBTicket saving is a ‘silent’  process, you won’t actually notice it being saved, and there’s no separate configuration. By saving your SHSH blob in the new version, your BBTicket will also be saved automatically for a time when it may be called upon.  But the process is so simple however:

Step 1 : Download TinyUmbrella [Windows or Mac] and run it.

Step 2 : Connect your iDevice to your PC or OS X.

Step 3 : Click on the “Advanced” tab and check the “Overwrite existing SHSH files on “Save SHSH”” and “Request SHSH from Cydia” should be unchecked. Refer to the screenshot below if you’re facing confusion:

Step 4 : Now, simply hit the “Save SHSH” button and you’re good to go.

TinyUmbrella version 5.10.14 has the ability to see which SHSHs have the BBTicket saved. The BBTicket saving is a “silent” process and it is stored in the same file as the SHSH so there really isn’t a way of telling if you have successfully saved your BBTicket or not. In 5.10.14, the SHSHs that have a BBTicket saved as well are indicated in BOLD as seen below:

With the help of  a new jailbreak tweak which has the power to smooth-out these compatibility issues has hit the Cydia Store.  The tweak is called “iPhoto501Fix,” and can be downloaded via the default repositories. No new icons are added to the SpringBoard, and new panes don’t appear in the Settings app after the tweak has been installed.

Step 1 : SSH into the jailbroken iOS device using a client such as FileZilla or CyberDuck. Alternatively, use the iFile file explorer from Cydia to gain quick on device access.

Step 2 : Navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices and then scroll to the bottom and open the SystemVersion.plist with a text editor.

Step 3 : The .plist file contains <string> tags at the bottom which holds the installed iOS version. Edit the string to read ‘5.1‘.

Step 4 : Save the edited .plist file and exit. Respring the device, then open the App Store, search for ‘iPhoto’ and then download.

Step 5 : Open up Cydia and search for ‘iPhoto501Fix‘. Install the fix as per any other Cydia package.

Step 6 : Respring the device and then run iPhoto app. The application should scan the photo library without issue, providing full access to the application.

Keep in mind that the  iPhoto must be installed on the device before the iPhoto501Fix package is installed from Cydia.
