Well known iH8sn0w, an iOS developer and researcher who is all responsible for the production of Sn0wbreeze, iFaith, iReb and F0recast was been working hard to achieve the target by resolving an issue that has been worrying the owners of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2. The said two Apple devices are powered by the A5 processor, gets jailbreak, but doesn’t previously been possible to perform firmware downgrades on those device units yet. Recently when Apple releases a new version of iOS, they simply stopped signing the older firmware, which means any official restores result in the user installing the latest official iOS version onto their device.

With this amazing news surfaced for the 4S and 2nd-gen iPad users who may have accidentally upgraded their jailbroken iOS devices to iOS 5.1 firmware, now can be downgraded soon as well.

Normally, updating to the latest version of iOS isn’t really a big issue for standard users. But, here’s where the problem really occurs when iDevice owners wh wish to perform a jailbreak update their software, leaving them having to sit and wait patiently until the Dev-Teams produce a working, distributable jailbreak for that new iOS version. Users can benefit on older devices, by performing a firmware downgrades to versions of iOS that Apple no longer signs as long as they have saved relevant SHSH Blobs for that firmware. In several cases, Cydia automatically captures any available blobs and update the users’ Cydia app with the blobs that have been saved. Many jailbreak fans uses the TinyUmrella tool to quickly and effectively capture available SHSH blobs and save them locally on their machines for use at a later date.

I am an old iPhone 4 user, and i was new to perform downgrade iOS firmware to older ones, with the help of iFaith i had successfully done downgrading iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1. When comes downgrading iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, it was a bit impossible till now. Canadian based iOS developer and hacker iH8sn0w claims to have found a loophole in Apple’s APTicket system that allowed him to successfully downgrade his iPad 2 from iOS 5.1 to 5.0.1.

We are seeing the iPad 2 since March 2011, and the iPhone 4S since October, there hasn’t been a method available to allow users to downgrade these A5 powered devices which means that a restore is required for any reason that the latest firmware version would be installed. the legendary hacker also believe that the loophole he has found will also allow firmware downgrades on Apple’s new iPad running on the new A5X processor. But, this will only be possible when newer firmwares become available due to the fact that all new iPads were actually shipped with iOS 5.1, which is the current version.

From his Tweet:

Found a loophole in Apple’s apticket system. Restored my iPad 2 to 5.0.1 from 5.1. Works on all A5 devices.

A5X devices will work too once Apple pushes a new firmware for it.

BTW, This cannot be applied to basebands. Only iOS itself.

So, it is currently possible to downgrade iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G and iPod touch 3G from iOS 5.1 to iOS 5.0.1 using the SHSH blobs saved using TinyUmbrella or TinyCFW.

With this latest iteration, means that the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, which are powered by A5 chip and in the future the new iPad, which is powered by Apple’s A5X chip can be downgraded to the previous firmware versions as well. So, users will be able to downgrade to iOS 5.0.1 and enjoy the untethered jailbreak until the jailbreak for iOS 5.1 is released (Update on iOS 5.1 jailbreak available here).

The news basically means that owners of the iPad 2, the new iPad and the iPhone 4S have finally been invited to the downgrade party and will be able to restore their devices to any firmware of their choice, providing that they have the relevant SHSH blobs saved.

We have no additional information from the developer, stay tuned to Grabi so that we can update if any downgrading iOS 5.1 to older version is possible in another way.

After Microsoft’s Windows 8 Consumer Preview was pushed out and made available for download, everyone had a chance to experience the company’s most awesome change in user interface since Windows 95. Likewise, it was always going to be compared squarely against the biggest, best and some would argue only real competition in the tablet market: the iPad 2.

The Windows 8 brought some amazing and revolutionary features such as, mouse-centric desktop to a touch-friendly, highly visual Metro Style UI, Multi-monitor 3D gaming and many more. While the older Start orb has been removed and replaced with a Charms bar, which is brought to life with an inward swipe from the right.

What Swipe feature actually makes, swipe from the top down dismisses the app you’re in and returns you to the home screen, and the left and bottom edges also have actions associated with them. Gestures play a very significant role in Windows 8, but they’re only one aspect of a truly gargantuan list of changes.

While with the iPad 3 on the horizon, comparing an unreleased version of an operating system in Windows 8 against what will soon be last year’s Apple tablet may seem a little strange. Well in some areas atleast, Windows 8 still lags behind the iPad, even when we see the upgraded hardware and other software enhancements come alongside it.

The Microsoft’s Windows Consumer Preview is still in beta stage, The Verge had compared it with the Apple’s iPad, the incumbent leader in the tablet space Microsoft is seeking to become a player in. iOS 5 and Windows 8 share a few similarities, but the user experience is fundamentally different and informed by different interaction metaphors.

When you see the comparison video of Windows 8 Consumer Preview and iPad running iOS 5, at the end, the Windows 8 tablet shows its true colors, and which are particularly worrying. While we acknowledge that this is still an early release of Windows 8, the sight of an old Windows desktop appearing at one point, complete with opened windows that seemed to have a mind of their own, is somewhat of a concern.

While the Windows 8 tablet experience very much depends on Metro being where the user lives. If Microsoft couldn’t make that mistake all over again, thenwe are back to the bad old days of Tablet PCs.

The most wanted version of Adobe Photoshop for iOS has just landed on the App Store. All new Photoshop Touch for iPad 2 is generally a fully touch-optimized experience of the desktop, major part, featuring support for core Photoshop features such as layers, selection tools, adjustments, filters, gestures and lost more lets you create professional looking images right from your desired tablet.

Earlier, Adobe has launched its Touch suite for Android few months ago, but the actual big thing was to introduce Photoshop Touch for the iPad.

Photoshop Touch also supported in importing images to your project from multiple sources such as Facebook, Google Images, or directly from your iPad 2′s camera – all from within the Photoshop Touch app.

The app is available now in the New Zealand iTunes App Store and should be making its way across the globe soon. According to the iTunes description, Photoshop Touch features the standard PS features like layers, selection tools, filters, and adjustments, as well as step-by-step tutorials and uploading to Adobe Creative Cloud.

For Facebook users, the integration for sharing images directly through the app and also have a built-in Google images search tool is now available. In addition this, Photoshop Touch allows you to share your work with your friends and family on popular social networking sites such as Facebook. You can also view Facebook comments that your friends have left on your images right from within the app itself.

Features of Photoshop Touch for iPad includes:

* Touch-optimized interface with support for gestures.
* Core Photoshop features such as layers, selection tools, adjustments, filters and more.
* Ability to import images from Facebook, Google Images, or device’s camera.
* Sharing on social networks such as Facebook.
* Support for AirPrint wireless printing.
* Sync project files between Photoshop CS5 for Windows/Mac and Photoshop Touch for iPad using Adobe Creative Cloud.

Unfortunately, similar to Android version, there’s a maximum image size of 1600 x 1600; which is another downside for the original iPad users will not be able to use this software. Due to technical requirements, Adobe has left out support for the first-gen iPad users. Photoshop Touch is available for iPad 2 only, and that too running the latest iOS 5.

Actually, we found Adobe’s Photoshop Touch to be for Android devices since November last year (Android Market link) for the price it will likely be one of the most popular image-editing apps available for the iPad. It’s priced at NZ$13.99, but we’d expect it to have the same $9.99 price point as the Android version when it hits the US app store.

As we mentioned above that this Touch iPad 2 app is currently available on the New Zealand App Store, Photoshop Touch for iPad will soon be hitting the App Store Globally. Not too long before it is available on in US and European App Stores, according to 9to5Mac.

Here’s a Security bug discovered in the iOS 5.0.1 firmware , verified by iPhoneIslam, that lets you bypass a user’s passcode to acccess their contacts list, make calls and send emails without permission.

The iOS 5.0.1 bug was found by the Safwan Saba, in the below video he discussed about a major iOS 5 security flaw that allows you to go into someone’s contacts list to make calls, send text messages, and also emails even if that owner or person has a passcode protected his iPhone. This works for all iPhone versions.

Major iOS 5 Security flaw bypasses the iPhone’s passcode and gives access for contacts and making calls:

In this video we discuss a major iOS 5 security flaw discovered by (Safwan Saba) that allows you to go to someone’s contacts list to make phone calls, text messages, and emails even if the person has a passcode on their phone. This works for all iPhones.

In order to bypass the passcode you must open a missed call notification when the network is searching. This is accomplished by being in low signal area or reinserting the SIM card.

The video shows everything:

Grabi have already shared you with great iPhone themes, iPhone 4 themes iPad 1, iPad 2 and iPod touch themes as well, which are awesome and to be the top and best chosen from different sites. Earlier in 2011 we had published a post on Best iPad 2 themes, when your second-gen iPad was not yet jailboken. Thinking why jailbreaking is important? Yes! if you want to install a theme on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch’s springboard you have to install Winterboard first, which is a jailbreak tweak or also called as Cydia tweak, that can be got only if the jailbreak iOS device done perfectly either tethered or untethered. Then the jailbroken iPad or iPhone shows you an installed Cydia icon on our homescreen. So, that you can bring the Winterboard installed on your iOS devices.

Here’s the Linux version of Absinthe jailbreak tool now available for download. All the platforms now have access to jailbreak their iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered. We’ve earlier published how to jailbreak on Mac OS X and Windows with complete steps, and we don’t want to leave the open source “Linux” readers out there.

Here’s the way, you can now jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2 untethered running iOS 5.0.1 or iOS 5.0 on Linux using Greenpois0n Absinthe jailbreak tool.

There is no iTunes for Linux released yet, but can be slightly more tricky, and can still a very easy process to apply Absinthe untethered jailbreak on Linux.

We recommand you personally that you have to first backup your iPhone 4S data and simply restore to factory settings on the iOS 5.0.1 firmware ( If you don’t require an unlock).

Step 1 : First you have to install the libimobiledevice pacakage on your Linux distribution. So, that your iPhone 4S can be recognized by the Linux computer when you plug it into the machine. This will allow Linux to talk to your iPad 2, iPhone 4S, and other iOS devices.

If not recognized by the Linux system then you will need to open the terminal and type the following commands:

“sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmcenery/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install libimobiledevice”

Step wise : Installing is very easy, if you are an Ubuntu using one:

* In terminal type: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmcenery/ppa
* accept any warnings and install.
* Next type: sudo apt-get update

Note : important to keep in your mind that these commands are for Ubuntu which is a Linux based source, and which will not work on other forms of Linux. If and if if you are having troubles please click here, or go to the official libimobiledevice by clicking here.

* Visit the Ubuntu software center and search for libimobiledevice, and install libimobiledevice-utils. It might then ask you to reboot. Do so, and upon reboot Linux should recognize your device. For other distributions or more information, visit http://www.libimobiledevice.org/

Step 2 : Download Absinthe v3.0 for Linux from here, and unpack it on your Ubuntu desktop.

Step 3 : Now choose on which you’re on a x86 machine double click absinthe.x86, if you’re on a 64-bit machine (likely) double click absinthe.x86_64 to run Absinthe.

Step 4 : Once Absinthe is running you will need to plug your iPhone 4S into your computer and ensure that your device is powered on, and that Absinthe detects your device, then click Jailbreak.

Step 5 : Now let the Greenpois0n Absinthe finsih the work, i mean entire process, no user intervention is needed until then end. Once the loading bar is complete, find the Absinthe icon on your iDevice’s Home screen, and launch it to complete the jailbreak.

Step 6 : Once your iPhone 4S reboots you can slide-to-unlock it and then on your SpringBoard (homescreen) you should notice a new Absinthe icon. Tap this Absinthe icon now, the official GreenPois0n website should appear for an instant, and then your iPhone 4S will reboot.

Once your device reboots, you should see the Cydia icon on your desktop. Now you have successfully jailbroken your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered on Linux using Greenpois0n Absinthe v3.0.

The latest Apple’s A5 chip handset called the iPhone 4S was been facing battery drain problems by the users with that device. Though Apple confirmed that the device comes along with battery issues, it couldn’t fix these issues. Apple pushed iOS 5.0.1 to fix battery drain on iPhone 4S , but users reported that they still having battery issues with the 4S iPhone and Apple has confirmed that the iOS 5.0.1 has nothing to do with this problem.

Apart from this, there are several cydia tweaks available on the source package that can fix the battery drain problems, which faced by iPhone 4S users. But the main point was to install cydia or jailbreak tweak, you would need to jailbreak iPhone 4S first. Now, its not a big problem. The pod2g along with the dream team and iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team after working hard on his jailbreak exploit released untethered jailbreak for A4 devices running iOS 5, and few days after launched the Greenpois0n Absinthe jailbreak tool for A5 devices.

The iPhone 4S was successfully jailbroken few days ago using Absinthe jailbreak tool for Windows and Mac OS X, which was the first untethered jailbreak tool for iPhone 4S and particularly jailbreaks iPad 2. Yesterday, Linux version of Greenpois0n Absinthe was released for free by updating it to version 3.0.

This is the actual reason why your jailbreak your iPhone 4S? or it may be iPad 2, iPad, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch or iTouch or Apple TV 2G. After performing this jailbreak only you can install these third-party tweaks onto your iDevices.

Well! now how can i fix the battery problems on my iPhone 4S?

A new tweak now available in Cydia known as iOS Battery Fix brings a fix for the battery issue haunting iPhone 4S users. The tweak can be grabbed by the VIP members of the insanelyi repository so get ready to spend $4.99 VIP fee. You can get on Insanelyi forum / repository to get the tweak.

Once installed, the iOS 5 Battery Fix applies a number of hacks and tweaks, all in the aim of extending iPhone battery life as long as possible.

This iOS 5 Battery Fix is a jailbreak tweak, that needs your iPhone 4S jailbroken, means you have to jailbreak your A5 device, follow our step by step guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 using Absinthe on Windows or Mac and launch cydia to get the tweak for a fix. For A4 devices you can follow our complete step by step guide posted here to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 untethered on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, and iPod touch 3G/4G using Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze.

Corona A5 untethered jailbreak for the 4S iPhone and iPad second-gen is nearly ready to pop up, that’s what the dream team members have published as a blog post earlier today. Finally it will be able to theme your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 just in the way you want it. Also, you’ll be able to install useful jailbreak tweaks and add widgets for your iOS 5 notification center, similar to what you got in the A4 untethered jailbreak. Details on coming to be true after this jump!

Now the iPhone 4S jailbreak is being once again tested and polished, as well as with the iPad 2 untethered JB before release.

According to the Dream team member, Planetbeing in a note and tweeted on his Twitter account that it should not be much longer before the jailbreak gets released “not much longer now” and:

“We’re testing & fixing problems with the jb app (that @pimskeks finished the majority of at incredible speed). Still needs to be polished.”

The iPhone Dev Team member, MuscleNerd post confirms that the A5 untethered jailbreak to the public since its as bug free as possible, and that’s nearly ready to launch. The Dev Team posts: important information you need to know about the jailbreaking programs.

The A5 untethered jailbreak Windows and Mac OS X will come from the Chronic Dev Team, might be Greenpois0n. Anyhow, there are other methods to perform the jailbreak.

A post on the iPhone Dev-Team’s blog reveals that ‘all technical hurdles dealing with the underlying technique have been overcome, and that’s what all about now.

To be as flexible as possible, the A5 version of the corona jailbreak will take multiple forms:

* Chronic Dev have incorporated the overall flow into a GUI that runs on your Mac or PC. The goal is for the GUI to be enough for most cases.

* iPhone Dev have incorporated the exact same flow into a command-line interface (CLI). This will allow us to help users through individual steps of the jailbreak manually, to both help the user and help improve the overall flow. Although the CLI will also allow the user to perform the entire jailbreak from beginning to end, we anticipate it will be more useful in debugging the occasional errors. The CLI currently has over 20 individual options (in addition to the single “jailbreak” option) that should be useful during debug after the GUI release.

* Once all the bugs in the flow are worked out, we’ll also incorporate it into the redsn0w GUI (but still leave the CLI freely available too). In order to maximize the chances of the jailbreak working for everyone, the redsn0w GUI will use native Apple iTunes libraries — this technique is slightly different than how the Chronic Dev GUI handles communications, and should provide nice combined coverage for all the odd computer configurations out there.

The supported firmware versions will be:

* iPhone 4S: 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
* iPad 2: 5.0.1 (9A405)

Paypal Contributions :
Because there were so many different people and teams involved in the A5 corona release, we all felt the most equitable approach to any Paypal contributions should involve a single shared account. If you do feel the desire to contribute to the “dream team” Paypal account, it will be distributed to the members according to internally agreed-upon proportions The same link will be on both the Chronic Dev and iPhone Dev versions of the GUI. This method seemed like the fairest to everyone involved!

For those iPhone 4S owners hoping to unlock their devices:

iPhone4S owners looking to maximize their chances of achieving an eventual software-based carrier unlock should be staying at 5.0. Everyone else should be at 5.0.1. If you’re an iPhone4S owner who already updated to 5.0.1, it’s too late to go back down to 5.0, but if you’re on 9A406 it is possible to downgrade the BB by going to the 9A405 version of 5.0.1 while the window is still open.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users, now ready your devices!

The overall flow used by the GUI and CLI to inject the A5 corona jailbreak has never been done before, and there may be unforeseen problems once it’s released to the public. It’s very important for you to sync your data, photos, and music before attempting any version of this jailbreak.

Good news for all the owners of the original iPhones and iPod touches that were stopped getting the latest firmware updates since the latest were able to update to the newer version of iDevices.

Don’t worry, a new updated software app called Whited00r 5.1 has been released that will allow to install iOS 5.0 on iPhone 3G, iPhone 2G, iPod Touch 2G, 1G directly from iTunes onto their original devices.

You might want to give Whited00r 5.1 a try. This app is a custom version of Apple’s official iOS 5, which runs only on the old iPod touches and anything after the older iPhones, bringing most of the features of the latest OS. You can even enable multitasking features, reminders, a kind of hacked “iCloud” which uses Dropbox as its back end, Newstand, home-screen folders, and also the custom home-screen backgrounds, all of them on your original iPhone and original iPods using Whited00r 5.1.

Wait! you are not going to get is Notification Center or the App Store.

Well, when the app that brings all the great and amazing features of the iOS 5.1 to the old iPhone and iTouch models, then you must get it right now. But before you start, you must read the above paragraph, so that you can know what you will be getting and what’s not with the installation. Whited00r’s major feature is it includes pre-installed jailbreak tweaks and the Cydia app.

The update is available as a freeware and get it right from here, and can be easily installed using the iTunes software, but be aware that installing a custom iOS onto your iDevices brings various number of security issues as well, becuase its completely unofficial though.

You were one of them who were enthusiastically awaiting the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak, then you had that on December 27th of past years date and you already made it with your device as soon as that tool was released by the development team, i mean by the pod2g. While everything was quite perfect at first, chances are that if you attempted to launch iBooks, or various other applications thats where you have faced some crashes as well.

These crash experience by iBooks application isn’t the newer one, Apple had implemented this built into the application bundle in an attempt to patch jailbreaking. However for the jailbreaking community, has already discovered a new way and created which is relatively painless to overcome.

iBooksFix 2 is a new tweak is available through Cydia repository which is reported to resolve the issue. There are other alternative methods, allowing users to fix the problem manually by installing .deb file to add an external repo such as the Xselize. Which had been reported to cause issues with the device syncing with iTunes, so obviously not an ideal solution and didn’t work for majority of people.

Pod2g just announced that @xvolks has patched the kernel in the Corona jailbreak to make iBooks work properly.

Developer Xvolks had also released a tool called xBooks which fixes the issue and was specifically created for use after the Corona untether jailbreak. Since, the xBooks ‘tweak’ never made it onto an official Cydia repository for download due to repositories rejecting it for being a stop gap solution, favoring to wait on the untether authors to provide an actual full time and reliable solution. While the xBooks tweak is considered a brutal hack due to the fact that involves the actual location of the iBooks applications rather than fixes the problem.

Now with the pod2g who works with Chronic Dev Team, iPhone Dev Team, PlanetBeing and Saurik to produce the A5 jailbreak that we are seeing is a community mixed effort that we have not even used it before. Xvolks is also a team member working with pod2g to resolve the iBooks situation.

According to iPhone hacker Pod2G, who has recently updated his blog, a Sandbox patch will be integrated into Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether that will fix the iBooks crashing error and other software errors related to Sandbox issues for good.

Recent blog posts from the two developers have confirmed that they have managed to patch the kernel in Corona to make iBooks work without the need for xBooks.

Corona iBooks fixes

@xvolks worked to include @comex sandbox patches into the Corona GIT.

Expect a Corona update soon in Cydia that’ll fix iBooks and other softwares having sandbox issues.

I’ll update the blog when this is released.

If you have been benefiting from the new xBooks solution, you will need to totally remove the package from your idevice, then remove and reinstall iBooks from the App Store.
