Gamers got a treat from Sony – officially launched its PS4 Remote Play app for the Xperia Z family, such as Xperia z3, Xperia Z3 Compact and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. The app will allow owners of said devices to play their PlayStation 4 games remotely, by streaming them directly to their handheld. How to use PS4 Remote Play, step-by-step guide here.
Before you get started with, keep in mind that this will only be possible if both the Xperia and the PS4 are on the same Wi-Fi network. The Remote Play feature has long been advertised as being an exclusive to the Xperia Z3 line. For Xperia Z2 support, Sony has stopped touting around the subject and has officially spoken about that, announced that the Z2 line will get Remote Play support….”soon”.
PS4 Remote Play capabilities for those aforementioned devices will let you use the phone as a remote screen to connect to and control your games on PS4. Stream content to your Xperia Z3 series and overall, you can even connect your smartphone or tablet to your home wireless connection and by using the DAULSHOCK 4 Wireless controller, you can eventually continue your PlayStation 4 games on your Xperia device when you are away from the TV screen.
Note: The PS4 Remote Play app works over WiFi, and particularly needs an active internet connection to sign into your PSN account, and a PS4 controller is a must – no on-screen controls made available. Any disc or downloaded game title for the PS4 should work across the connection.
PlayStation Vita owners can remote-play as well. Wii U owners have this functionality built in thanks to the system’s unique tablet-controller, and PC gamers should check out NVIDIA’s GameStream on the SHIELD Portable and SHIELD Tablet.
The PS4 Remote Play will be available for PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV in Europe starting November 14th and you owning an Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact or Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact can boot from the link embeded below.
