The South Korean giant has officially revealed the portable-size update to its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5, the mini-variant of the company’s 2014 flagship smartphone, with all the features and specifications described. No pricing details of the handset is out yet, but it’s only announced that the Galaxy S5 mini will be available initially in Russia starting early-July, and the global release is also imminent. Features and Specifications
The mini-variant of Galaxy S5 features a 4.5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) Super AMOLED display. Powered by a quad-core (unspecified chipset) processor, clocked at 1.4GHz paired with 1.5GB of RAM. While the flagship Galaxy S5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 CPU.
The Galaxy S5 mini runs on Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box, packing with 16GB internal storage which can futher expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. The S5 mini sports an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and still got a front-facing snapper of 2MP on board.
Connectivity options on the Galaxy S5 mini include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, A-GPS, GLONASS, 3G and IR Remote, packs a 2100mAh battery and measures 131.1×64.8×9.1mm, while weighs 120 grams. Other specs on the Galaxy S5 mini features an accelerometer, digital compass, gyro, proximity, and ambient light sensor.
Finally, much like the original bigger Galaxy S5, the mini-variant will be available in Charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold colors. Also like its full-fledged sibling, the Samsung Galaxy S5 mini comes and supports a heart rate sensor; fingerprint scanner; connectivity with the Samsung wearable devices; private mode/ kids mode; Ultra Power Saving Mode, and also comes with dust and water resistance (IP67 certified).
