As you already know that iMessage came along with iOS 5 as an instant messaging client for all iDevices and we already wrote topics on how to use and how you can set it up on your iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone.
Samsung has released their instant messaging app, ChatON for iPhone which is now available from the Apple’s app store.
Samsung ChatON made its way to Google’s Android smartphone OS, with the Bada platform already signed up. Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry clients are laready on their way, along with the we-based of the client for those who wish to stay connected whilst on a computer.
From App Store:
ChatON is a Global Mobile Communication Service that enables you to have better relationships with your buddies or groups.
ChatON brings together all of these methods of communication, expression, and sharing in one place.
The all new release of ChatON for iOS brings one-on-one messaging, along with a group chat feature similar to iMessage group chat for those who like to share conversation. A broadcast feature also gifted with message drawing as well.
Along with major features, users can share all the usual media, with photos, videos and voice snippets. The user’s location, along with calender appointments and contacts can also be shared if you wish to.
Samsung’s ChatON now gone into direct compitition with other SMS replacements on the iOS platform, with Apple’s iMessage probably the big fish that will need to be cooked in order for ChatON to take off on iOS devices. Samsung’s client have the best advantage over Apple’s, with ChatON being available across multiple platforms and iMessage based-on iOS only devices.
Basically, the future will see any relatively modern Internet-connected mobile device support ChatON, since a web interface version will also be developed eventually. Currently, there is an estimated 100,000 and 500,000 installations of ChatON on the Android platform alone, so iOS device owners, expect to receive requests to install ChatON on your device from family and friends who aren’t of the Apple camp soon.
Samsung’s instant messaging app, ChatON, is now available to grab via Apple’s App Store to compete with the iMessage client.
