The news that surfaced online about the Nokia X – introduced at this years Mobile World Congress as an Android-powered smartphone have received one million pre-orders in China. False statement! RetailerJD.com actually set up a contest where participants could hit a “preorder” button for a chance to win a Nokia X. Pre-order didn’t however require you to register with the site or put any money down, which is not the norm for China.
We, here at Grabi.org doesn’t mean that the sales for the Nokia X Adroid phone will have difficulty achieving such number, but the handset will be retailing for $100 unlocked, which is obviously cheaper than an Android smartphone.
Also given the fact that th Nokia X is Nokia’s first Android-based phone and expect it to sell fairly well. But the Finnish company isn’t making any predictions for the overall sales figure in China, but the firm is confident of capturing a fair share of Chinese market with its latest affordable offering.
Actually, Nokia has officially announced on Weibo that Chinese e-retailer JD.com, exclusively taking pre-orders for Nokia Android smartphone “Nokia X” in China, said that the preordering process was started on March 10 and will continue until March 23 and the shipment of X phone is all set to begin from March 24th, 2014.
While, JD.com is offering the phone at just 599 yuan (INR 5,960) during the pre-order process, the actual price is also pretty decent – 699 yuan (INR 6,999). Pricing coupled with the overall absence of Google apps from the market have resulted in this response for the phone. And in India, Nokia X is now available at various e-retailers in the Indian market for INR 8,499. Grab it!
