Pod2g Confirms That Sandbox Is Broken Now, Untethered Jailbreak For A5 Comes Out Soon

The iPhone Hacker PlanetBeing has few hours ago announced that they’re out of Apple’s sandbox. More progress towards the iPhone 4S jailbreak can be made now by the dream team along with MuscleNerd, PlanetBeing, Pod2g, P0sixninja and Saurik, who made his major contribution for the A5 untethered Jailbreak.

Pod2g has confirmed and congratulates:

“Here are some news about the current work on the A5 research.

@planetbeing escaped from the sandbox with the help of @saurik. Thanks to their awesome work, there should be nothing left blocking for the A5 jailbreak.

Now it should be a matter of days. Still no precise ETA of course.

We all want this to be finished ASAP, we’re getting tired!

PlanetBeinh announced in a tweet:

“And we’re out of the sandbox with @saurik’s invaluable help! (well, at least there’s a PoC) 😀 Turning out more complex than X-Gold 618.”

The X-Gold 618 is the baseband platform used in the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 (GSM). The Qualcomm MDM6610 is the baseband chip used in the iPhone 4S, for those wondering. As planetbeing notes, more work was needed to escape sandbox for this jailbreak than was needed to escape the iPhone 4 baseband’s equivalent of a “sandbox”.

So, the team has been successful in breaking out of Apple’s sandbox (which lets them run unsigned code) they’ll focus their attention on writing the OS X and Windows software that interacts with the device.

Hopefully the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.x will be out soon.
