Panasonic has launched today the mid-range Panasonic Eluga I in India, the company’s latest Eluga series smartphone now available online via Flipkart. The phone is direct competitor to the most popular Asus ZenFone 5 and packs similar specs.
It features a 5-inch IPS display of 720p resolution screen giving its pixel density of 295ppi. Under the hood of the Panasonic Eluga I is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB of RAM, which runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. On board storage will be 8GB and in further can be expandable via microSD card up to 32GB respectively.
The Eluga I is a dual-SIM smartphone supports 3G connectivity alongside HSPA+, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. It measures 73.6 x 147.1 x 9mm and weighs 155 grams. It sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash that is capable of recording 1080p videos and a 2MP front shooter and packs a removable cover and a 2,000 mAh battery.
It also has Smart Swipe technology that lets user to use combination of number of fingers to swipe in a direction to perform various functions like take a screenshot, open messages and et al.

Note: The Eluga I retails for $177 (INR 10,990), tad expensive than the ASUS ZenFone 5 selling at $161 (INR 9,999). It to be seen whether the Panasonic’s offering is going to prove itself a winning formula for the highly competitive Indian market.
