Few days ago OnLive has announced that it will be launching a new cloud-based app for the iPad which will allow users to stream an entire Windows 7 desktop experience to their tablets.

OnLive Desktop is a new application that lets you run full Windows apps on your Apple iPad with Microsoft Office access via cloud service.

OnLive Desktop is a service that provides a seamless, no-compromise, instant-response cloud-based PC desktop, wherever and whenever you want it. OnLive brings to your iPad a high-performance PC experience, regardless of the content, even when interacting with fast-action media.

When running, the iPad almost appears to be running Windows 7, with the Start Menu, Recycle Bin and all the usual Windows bits and pieces in attendance. From the videos we’ve seen, responsiveness looks to be on a par with OnLive’s gaming services, which is to say it is more than good enough assuming you have a decent internet connection behind you.

From App Store:

The OnLive app for iPad lets user to run a number of Windows applications virtually which includes MS Office, Word, Excel and Powerpoint in the cloud. OnLive desktop service is free for this current time and offers you get 2GB of storage, and for more storgae of 50GB, OnLive to launch a pro version in the future to get more applications which is expected to charge around $9.99 a month for the service.

OnLive has now released the app which is now available for the iPad from the US iTunes store, at the time of writing it only seems to be available in the US store at the moment.
