Now you have the first look at the Nokia Lumia 1520 stacked with high-end-hardware features and a new UI and announced as the first full HD, quad-core Windows Phone. Lumia 1520 is a 20-megapixel sensor equipped handset, and this Nokia’s new 6-inch Lumia will be the company’s largest phone to date. More details can be grabbed right after this break.
Smartphones these days, particularly based on Android and Windows Phone devices have been growing rapidly in size over the past few years, technically from devices with mere 4″ displays to those with screens almost six inches now in size. Nokia finally announced the new Lumia 1520 along with the low-end counterpart – the Lumia 1320 also features a massive 6-inch display.
The Lumia 1520 variant is the first Windows Phone with 1080p screen and powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, with a single piece polycorbonate design that looks like a bigger version of the Lumia 720. The Nokia’s new Lumia 1520 is downright massive; it’s 3.36 inches wide, 6.4-inches tall, and weighs 7.35 ounces, despite being only 0.34 inches thick.
Lumia 1520 with the new LCD display, is bright and vibrant, and also in the case with most Nokia smartphones, which has a great viewing angles and deep blacks. The Windows Phone 8, the 1520’s quad-core, 2.26GHz processor and 2GB of RAM let it scream, but it has added horsepower in basic tasks. Beneficial when editing video or playing intensive games.
Other specifications for the 1520, also has a 3,400mAh battery, built-in wireless charging, and support for LTE networks. Nokia is using a new, lower-resolution version of its 41-megapixel PureView sensor with 20 megapixels. It has the optical image stabilization and the PureView capabilities of zooming in after you take a picture without a loss of quality.
The PureView zoom level on the Nokia Lumia 1520’s camera is limited to 2x on the device, as opposed to the 3x zoom on the 42-megapixel Lumia 1020. Official Instagram app is also available for Windows Phone in the coming future and the RAW image support is reportedly coming to 1020 and 1520 handsets.
The Lumia 1520 runs the latest version of Windows Phone 8, enables the larger, higher-resolution display and a new quad-core chip found in the device. The Lumia 1520 will be available in black, red, yellow, and white in the US, UK, France, China, Germany, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
Note: Additionally, the 1520’s camera app has roughly the same Nokia Pro cam app we have seen in the Lumia 1020, where the onscreen controls you can tap to futz with exposure ratings, and so on. The 1520’s version also bundles in a shortcut to the Nokia Smart Cam app, which was previously a lens of its own. Now, it has redesigned, and once tapped an onscreen button to get at those tools, which includes “Best Face” for group photos and some action modes.
