Before Apple announced the iPhone 4S there were several rumors that the handset would come with Near Feild Communication (NFC) capabilities, and the phone would be the iPhone 5, but now it looks like the speculations have started once again, and according to the recent report Apple may launch an NFC enabled iPhone in the 2012 year.
Further speculation of an NFC-capable iPhone coming in 2012 have emerged, this time from Digitimes:
Since Google’s Android, BlackBerry and Nokia’s Bada have supported NFC functions and Microsoft and Apple planning to make Windows Phone and iOS support NFC in 2012, the proportion of NFC-enabled smartphones will quickly increase from less than 10% currently to over 50% in two to three years, according to Taiwan-based smartphone makers.
There were whispers heard of NFC coming to the iPhone 6 via News networks, back in march, where the issue with NFC becoming widespread is to get retailers on board to support the new technology. Several other Smartphones already come with NFC capabilities. Could the iPhone be next to feature with NFC Functions?
However it is still just a rumor currently, but after Google launching NFC enabled devices like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, we could suspect that Apple are looking into the technology at the moment to compete with. via
