New Moto X (Gen 2) Unveiled With 5.2-Inch Display And Snapdragon 801 SoC

Motorola alongside the new Moto G also announced the 2nd-Gen Moto X, the successor to the last year’s Moto X with 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display with a pixel density of 423 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The second-generation Moto G 16GB priced at Rs. 12,999 and available through Flipkart, exclusively from Sept. 5 (today).


new-Moto-XPrice and availability of the new smartphone in India haven’t surfaced as yet, but the company however has disclosed US pricing at $499.99 (roughly Rs. 30,200) unlocked, and $99.99 (approximately Rs. 6,000) on 2-years contract across select carriers. Motorola did say it will be available by the end of September.

The successor is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974-AC)processor with Adreno 330 GPU, paired with 2GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and confirmed, it will roll out an Android L update pretty soon. Its available in two different storage sizes – 16GB and 32GB variants and with no expandability via microSD card.

Moto-X-Gen2The new smartphone comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.25 lens with 4K video recording and dual-LED ring flash, as well a 2-megapixel front-facing camera capable of 1080p video recording. Like its prdecessor, it features a dual-front speakers, above and below the display. It supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm audio jack, measures 140.8×72.4×9.97mm, and weighs 144 grams and it is powered by a 2300mAh battery.
