You Can Now Unlock Moto X Without A Password Using Digital Tattos, Here’s How [Video]

Motorola on Tuesday introduced the world with a new unlocking method for their Moto X handset, a bit scientific but technically a digital tattoo. Launched a tattoo sticker made out of “super thin” material that eventually unlocks the smartphone without typing any passwords or drawing any patterns.

Title goes, this Motorola’s digital tattoo unlocks Moto X with a tap, how? This is a thin electronic film that sticks on and lets you securely unlock your phone with a tap of your arm, neck or wherever you stick it, using NFC.

About digital tattoos, Motorola has teamed up with VivLink to give you a temporary tattoo that will last on your body for as much as five days. The $9.99 NFC-operated digital tattoo is round and nickel-size, that sticking to the human skin with the help of an adhesive material, which is designed to tackle activities like jogging, showering and swimming.

Users only have to tap the Motorola Moto X’s back side to the digital tattoo to unlock the smartphone. Notably, the whole process takes place over NFC connectivity!

Motorola says that people unlock their handsets around 39 times per day. The digital tattoo for Moto X made by VivaLink Inc. and Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects group and as per the company’s post:

It’s another step in making it easier to unlock your phone on the go and keep your personal information safe. An average user takes 2.3 seconds to unlock their phone and does this about 39 times a day-a process that some people find so inconvenient that they do not lock their phones at all. Using NFC technology, digital tattoos make it faster to safely unlock your phone anywhere without having to enter a password.”

Moto X users can buy Digital Tatto from VivaLink’s website, soon we’ll see yet another iteration from Google with the similar products for major Android-running smartphones.

The tattoos have gone on sale in the US, with Moto X users able to buy a pack of 10 of these digital tattoos for $9.99
