The day before new year we published a post on how some iPhone hackers ported iOS apps to the Jailbroken Apple TV untethered, after some time the same iOS developers has also posted a variety of photos on their Twitter feed of iPad apps running fullscreen at 720p, rather than in the samll iPhone-oriented Windows they were running last year.
For those who use Twitter and are involved in the iOS jailbreaking scene, this will be an older news to you that developers are making progress on getting the iPhone and iPad applications to work natively on the Apple TV when connected to a high definition television set box.
But, now the iOS applications can be zoomed in to take up the full Apple TV screen or zoomed out for window management and switching between apps.
Till now, hacker Steve Troughton-Smith has posted photos of iPad apps Grace, YouTube, and Facetime running; he also mentioned Facebook was up and running as well.
Wait! ther isn’t any guide released to get full instruction on how to get iOS apps running on jailbroken Apple TV available yet, why? becuase there’s still fixes, and plenty of bugs to be cleared (you can see the screenshot showing Angry Birds running sideways). Still there’s plenty of work to be done perfectly, so that it can be easily integrated into the future jailbreak, with custom apps built for TV.
iPhone developer “Troughton-Smith” said on his Twitter account last night: “Remember how the unofficial iPhone apps back in ’07 forced Apple’s hand in creating an App Store? And would like Apple TV to get the same treatment as well.
Troughton-Smith posting images to Twitter (1, 2) showing a number of popular iOS applications running natively on the Apple TV. It seems they have also figured out a way to display iPad applications running on 720p resolution. Via
