Jeff Benjamin of iDownloadblog reports:

Our tipster exclusively provided us with screenshots and detailed information from iOS 5.1. To get this information he used iFile on a jailbroken iOS 5.1 install from an iPhone 4. We were able to replicate this and grab the same exact information on our iPhone 4. We were also able to get the same data from an iPod touch. We’re assuming that these strings exist on all 5.1 IPSW’s.

These particular strings are new to iOS 5.1. We have confirmed that they do not reside on iOS 5.0.1.

Keep in mind as it’s important to note that the strings are new to iOS 5.1, and cannot be seen in previous iOS iterations. The files are confirmed to have been found on an iPhone 4 and iPod touch, and those running a jailbroken iOS 5.1 device can also locate said files.

When we go through the strings not only suggest all-but confirm 4G on iPhone, and also suggesting Apple could finally allow FaceTime over cellular network – not axceptable, why? Presently its not even seen on the new iPad yet.

If you want to see the strings out of yourself, you’ll have to jailbeak iPhone 4 or iPod touch running iOS 5.1. In Cydia, you’ll need to grab iFile from the BigBoss repo (if you don’t have it already, you really ought to), and install on your device. Once you’re running it, browse to:

var/stash/Applications/Preferences.app/English.lproj/Network.strings

In iOS 5.1, Apple has replaced the 3G indicator on the iPhone 4S on AT&T’s HSPA+ network with a 4G indicator. So it is quite likely that these text strings discovered in iOS 5.1 was to incorporate this change and suggests that the 4G indicator change was not just a cosmetic change.

Well! you’ll find bunch of strings indicative of a 4G iPhone device in the pipeline, It would be unwise to beging calling it the iPhone 5, would call it as iPhone 4GS or New iPhone or any other named. We are sure about not telling anything about this 4G LTE iPhone – and not before time.
