It’s official now! HTC has finally given a confirmation regarding the Desire 820 unveil at its IFA 2014 event on September 4. It’s the successor to the Desire 816, the Desire 820 also teased in an image that shows the smartphone’s front-facing camera sensor, blue colored rear shell and more of it looks like a speaker grill, similar to that seen on 816 smartphone. Full details after this fold!
Although it’s legit when speaking about 64bit smartphones, already seen with iPhone 5s, and followed by some other manufacturers who are competing to be the first to bring the 64-bit Android to market. HTC would be that claim that title with the mid-range Desire 820.
Officially confirmed via the HTC Weibo account, though details regarding to that is scarce – all the teaser images really says “64-bit” and “September 4”.
The first image lists off the HTC’s first Android phone, first 1080p phone, first f/2.0 camera aperture and so on. The second image teased, with some interesting features and shows what appears to be the selfie camera, off to the side of a front-facing speaker grill.
Qualcomm has teased a smartphone with its 64-bit Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with an image that looks exactly like HTC’s image. The chipset has 8 ARM Cortex A53 cores ( four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz per core and four clocked at 1.0 GHz per core), Adreno 405 GPU, 4G LTE support and Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) capabilities.
Believed that the second teaser image claims this is the “world’s first octa-core 64-bit phone”. If it’s a Qualcomm chipset then it must be the Snapdragon 615 – it has eight Cortex-A53 cores (the 64-bit replacement of the Cortex-A7) and a next-gen Adreno 405 GPU.
However, the HTC’s IFA event is scheduled for September 4th at 8AM CEST (11:30 AM IST), where the company will make a bit for another “world’s first” title.
