Now they had managed another one on their Project and that’s the ability to Dual-Boot WebOS and Gingerbread “Android 2.3 on HP Tablet “TouchPad” .
This Video Uploaded by the User fnj001 from the Android Developers Forum called RootWiki, home of the ThouchDroid Project aims to port Android 2.3/3.0 onto the HP TouchPad WebOS Tablet that was discontinued.
This Video shows, the developer rhcp’s TouchPad firt Booting into Android 2.3.x “Gingerbread”, then the HP Tablet will be restarted and proceeds to Boot into WebOS. Here is notes from RootWiki:
Hello Rootzwiki and All fans and Supporters:
Touchdroid is glad to bring you our first demo video. Sorry, For the long wait, We wanted to show you our full progress so far.
-What is working as of now? We have dual boot working as you can see in the video. It can boot both android + webos. At the moment we are utilizing one kernel for both OS’s. This may change in the future. You may ask why? Simple answer is we don’t have units to spear to science. Many of the developers working on this, Do Not Have Units. And the Few that do once they brick we have to wait on HP to repair them. (which will only slow development)
This dual-booting feature will solve one very critical issue for users who wish to keep on using webOS while trying out Android 2.3.x “Gingerbread” and – later on – Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich”.
Importanat note – This Build of Android which the HP TouchPad Tablet Boots into is unstable at this moment and nothing really works. Where Developers stated that their first priority is to get the Touchscreen working, so that they can focus on optimizing everything else. via
