How to download iOS 8 and install it on your iDevice right away:
It’s recommended to install a major new iOS 8 update is to clean install it, officially, Restoring your device will help you get best performance out of your device.
Step 1: Download iTunes 11.4 for Windows or Mac.
Step 2: Before you begin installing iOS 8 on your device, make a complete backup of your smartphone or tablet either via iTunes or via iCloud.

Step 4: Start iTunes. On your Mac, hold Alt key (if on Windows PC, it will be Shift key), and click on the Restore iPhone… button. iTunes will eventually allow you to select the .IPSW firmware you downloaded in the previous step. Select it.
Step 5: Now wait! As iTunes installs iOS 8 on your device. This should take a few minutes. Once completed, you’ll be all set to go on iOS 8.
Today’s iOS 8 update is also available as an over-the-air (OTA) download for supported devices running on iOS 7.0.x. Again, before proceeding with the OTA update, make a complete backup of your device either through iTunes or via iCloud. Notably, make enough free space available on your device to update to iOS 8. At least 3GB will be required to install it. Connect your iOS device to a stable Wi-Fi connection and then simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, once iOS 8 update is available, then hit the update button.
