Here comes another update version of iOS 5.x firmware fixes several bugs and includes improvements on reliability of using HDR option on iOS 5.1.1. Apple introduced the latest tablet to the world with a new improved, next-generation iPad complete with full HD Retina display and pre-installed with iOS 5.1. After the announcement made in the event started rolling out the OTA iOS update allowing iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners to upgrade their software and take advantage from the minimal enhancements that iOS 5.1 brought.
Apple’s iOS 5.1.1 update brings the ability to fix AirPlay and networking bugs, seemingly minor point update that actually promises to fix quite a few bugs. The extra feature 0.0.1 is said to improve reliability of the HDR option for photos taken using the lock Screen shortcut, address bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks and solve those issues that were affecting the AirPlay video playback’s in some point.
Stepping forward Apple has now taken the oppurtunity to push out an additional iOS update, upgrading their mobile operating system to version 5.1.1, specially done in the sake of the new iPad. The official iOS 5.1.1 change log offers the following details to check:
* Improves reliability of using HDR option for photos taken using the Lock Screen shortcut
* Addresses bugs that could prevent the new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G networks
* Fixes bugs that affected AirPlay video playback in some circumstances
* Improved reliability for syncing Safari bookmarks and Reading List
* Fixes an issue where ‘Unable to purchase’ alert could be displayed after successful purchase
It seems that a number of important bugs fixes and improvements were introduced including the Japanese language support for Siri, the ability to delete photographs from the iCloud Photo Stream, multiple facedetection in camera app and fixes for some issues that sometime caused dropped audio when calling though.
You can get the iOS 5.1.1 update now available to users as both iTunes and OTA update. Please check the download links list below for individual devices. Note this point that any iDevice user who is currently on an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5.0.1 are not recommended to get upgraded their devices to this latest version of iOS 5.1.1 IPSW, stay away from this. While the legendary developers have been shown off an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1, but there’s still no way to distribute this publicly and no release date has been set at all for a workable jailbreak for this new update.
Not intrested in jailbreaking (non-jailbroken) users are pretty safe to head over to download the iOS 5.1.1 update, simply by plugging the device into iTunes and selecting the “Check for updates” button or by navigating to Settings => Software Update on your device and check whether an over-the-air update is available or not, if seen, install it via WiFi connection.
