Apple has tweaked out an iOS 5.0.1 (Build 9A406) update for their newly released-ish smartphone iPhone 4S along with iOS 4.4.4 for ATV 2G.
Initially, iOS 5.0.1, released for each and every iOS 5-capable device, was said to amend those lingering battery issues, but that hasn’t turned out to be the case and most users have not noticed any signs of the promised improvements. That’s not iOS 5.1 download update for all devices, instead, this 9A406 build update is meant only for iPhone 4S and Apple TV.
Actually Apple released the beta version of iOS 5.1 for developers only, thought would kill two birds with single shot – making Siri-related upgrades and battery issues in one hit.
But, why did Apple rolled out the iOS 5.0.1 for iPhone 4S build 9A406 as a re-release, is officially not known yet. May be for the upcoming news to jailbreak i4S and iPad 2 or aimed to fix the battery problem faced by many iPhone 4S users or enabling us to concentrate on the more pressing issues such as Siri hacking and the teased untethered jailbreak progress, which is thought to be tantalizingly close to release.
You have to note that this release of iOS 5.0.1 is only for the iPhone 4S, thus not available for any other iDevices. It’s just a new build number of the exact same release. Thus, you’re not missing out on anything the iPhone 4S user will be gaining.
This build appears to be a minor tweak for the current iOS 5.0.1. There’s no major changes reported till now.
