This isn’t the first time Amazon rumored to be setting up itself to introduce a smartphone, capable of having the 3D screens. Heard about the upcoming Amazon smartphone at least once in a while since a year, as a complement to its Kindle e-Reader and Fire tablets. Today, the sources speaking to The Wall Street Journal, reporting that Amazon is actually working on two smartphones, which may also include a 3D display.

Few days back, the reports surfaced that Amazon is developing a wide range of gadgets, and one of the smartphone which will have a 3D screen. In addition to the two smartphone models, Amazon is also said is actually working on a device for streaming music “audio-player”, and a set-top box.

The alleged 3D smartphone will include a glasses-free 3D display, and the device is capable of tracking a user’s retina, causing images to “float” above the screen. While the retina tracking can also be used to take control over the smartphone either.

In the past, we read about the 3D screen cover for iPhone, which actually does the same thing and today’s technology will immediately makes one think of Nintendo’s 3DS. Unlike Nintendo’s glasses-free tech, Amazon smartphone display will reportedly allow a 3D image from all angles.

No surprise to hear about Amazon working on smartphone, but a bit strange to hear news floating on a possible 3D-enabled device. Although, the 3D-technology has had a mixed success at best in the customer point of view in the current technology market. Like Amazon with a smartphone added with a very advanced display could make some difference in the smartphone market.

If the report is accurate, then Amazon will be the first major smartphone makers to introduce a smartphone with 3D capabilities. In the past HTC and LG offered phones that shot and played three-dimensional video and offered glasses-less 3D displays and sported two cameras on the back to compile their pop-out images. Now, it’s time for Amazon with its Kindle 3D smartphone?

Still there are some areas in the technological developed countries in the planet are trying to get grips on 4G and plenty of them even don’t have 3G network, but in this fastest growing tech world of carriers and smartphone manufacturers didn’t stopped from working on the upcoming fifth-generation mobile data, or 5G.

Mobile internet is certainly becoming and playing an integral roll when consuming information as well as being the major way of many a business, the race for ever increasing mobile data speeds has seen development of 5G ready even while 4G is still a pie for many. Now, the competition begins with the Korean company “Samsung”, is one poking its nose into the future with 5G technology, which has today announced that it has successfully run tests that have achieved a whopping 1Gbps download speed, with more accurate to come.

According to Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, Samsung has imminently tested its 5G platform, pulling down data at one Giga-bits/sec in recent tests, that used the 28 GHz waveband and 64 different antenna elements to pull the trick off, and Samsung claiming that the technology could theoretically achieve tens of gigabits per second, that will be available to customers by 2020.

To put that 1Gbps speed into substance, the projected maximum we should expect from the currently rolling out 4G technology is around 75Mbps, and that’s obviously considered to be boasting speed! While Samsung will not be ready to launch its G technology into the hands of customers until around the 2020 time frame – matching the European Commission’s goal to have 5G ready quite nicely.

Samsung isn’t the only one company currently testing 5G data, with NTT DoCoMo announcing a few months ago that it too had performed successful tests of its 5th-generation technology. It has used car full of antennas utilizing the 400MHz spectrum to achieve 10Gbps. So, there are two big players planning to release the speed stakes, and wo wonder wo’ll be next? Might be Apple?. Probably not T-Mobile or Sprint, while AT&T and Verizon has 4G mobile data technology aready.

Rimind you and don’t even expect about the next iPhone or Galaxy S series to have a 5G badge on it any time soon! Because, it’s still in progress! (via: Twitter)

Today at Geeksphone, the smartphones running on Mozilla’s Firefox OS with the clean, smooth and simple touch-based operating system has gone for sale. Two developer handsets were made available to purchase from the said vendor, which were sold out within hours of availability. The Spanish retailer put the first Firefox OS developer phones on sale early this morning. Now you can get their hands on the two new handsets “Keon” and “Peak” smartphones with a price tag of f €91 and €149 excluding VAT respectively. Check out the details after the jump!

Starting at just $119, the Firefox OS Dev devices that were on offer present an enticing prospect to anyone interested in the Web browser company’s open-source mobile ecosystem, and though the Firefox OS is looking to do battle in an ever-crowded market. Well, the legions of Firefox fanatics behind the project give it a very strong chance of forging a substantial user base.

Both devices are the first hardware to be offered with Firefox OS on board, and both devices are now listed as “Out of stock,” just a few hours after first going on sale. Although the Keon and Peak devices are essentially preview devices, specially designed to give developers the offering to test out what they actually can do with the new Linux-based open-source mobile OS before it sees its general public launch this June in five initial countries, including Spain, Brazil, Portugal and Venezula.

Mozilla, better known for its Firefox Web browser, now and then it’s trying to get into the smartphone business, like Facebook being a social network. Both the Firefox OS-based smartphones were revealed last week that these dev phones would be rolling out as of today, along with the lower end ‘Keon’ device priced at $119, with a slightly higer performing ‘Peak’, which will set you back $194. Both are out of stock courtesy of Geeksphone, and however the retailer is based in the European nation of Spain, either device were eligible for shipping to just about anywhere in the world.

The Geeksphone devices are modest in terms of hardware specifications, but the Firefox OS will likely be positioned as more of a mid-market play. With another mobile operating system to take on iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry, Geeksphone has been overwhelmed with demand. Unlike its rivals, Firefox OS is purely web-based operating system which apparently runs HTML5 apps.

Every big gun have its own mobile operating systems in the smartphone and tablet markets, but following years of two ‘iOS’ & ‘Android’ dominance, many other companies are now looking to stand up and be counted. Microsoft has impressed with Windows Phone, BlackBerry has sought to reinvent itself with BB10, and even Canonical’s open-source Ubuntu, which is a slightly more advanced stage than the Firefox OS, is now looking to make some competition.

If you are indeed one of those individuals, and would like to check out these still fledgling stages of the Firefox OS, please head over to Geeksphone. Guess what? The devices might be back in stock at one stage soon and don’t take our word on it. The Keon features a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor, 3.5in (320 x 480) screen, 4GB of storage and a 3Mp camera. Meanwhile, the Peak uses a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 4.3in qHD IPS screen, 4GB of internal storage and an 8Mp camera.

Note: The described phones are only the developer smartphone, consider it and certainly not the kind you would want as your daily runner at any cost. Because, the software is not ready yet and there are higher chances that you’ll run into a lot of bumps on the go and warned. It’s hard to make any kind of predictions about Firefox OS’s potential success based on these very early results of two developer handsets,

It’s hard to argue the fact that the iPhone 5 is one of the best smart phones on the market, and although Apple has had a few issues, their devices are always cutting edge and immensely popular. If, for whatever reason, you’re not looking to buy an iPhone 5, there are plenty of worthy alternatives. Many brands are releasing solid competition for Apple, and with the widespread popularity of mobile operating systems like Android, consumers are finding reliable alternatives that they prefer over Apple. Here are the top three best smart phone alternatives for the iPhone 5

Samsung Galaxy S3: Easily Samsung’s most popular (and fastest selling) device to date, the Galaxy S3 has been the iPhone’s strongest competitor. It’s ultra vibrant and crisp Super AMOLED display, measuring in at a surprising 4.8 inches (almost a full inch larger than the iPhone 5) and it’s incredible Quad-core 1.4 GHz processor, makes it one of the most powerful phones on the market today. On top of that, users can also enjoy expandable memory (up to an additional 64GB), an NFC chip, stereo FM radio, and even Java support, none of which can be found on the iPhone 5.

HTC One X+: The anxiously anticipated sequel to the popular One X model will be worth the wait. Boasting a powerful Quad-core 1.7 GHz NVIDIA Tegra processor, and running with the latest user interface from HTC: v4, you can expect seamless multi-tasking, browsing, navigating, gaming and more. One X plus will also offer an NFC chip, Beats Audio enhancement and plenty of talk time with a Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery.

Nokia Lumia 920: If you’d prefer the Windows mobile operating system, no brand does it better than Nokia’s Lumia series. The 920 will be running Windows Phone 8, which will be faster, smoother, and more customizable than ever. Expected to be released in November, you’ll enjoy a generous 4.5 inch IPS TFT display, lightening fast 4G support, and a Dual-core 1.5 GHz processor. The Lumia 920 will also come with an NFC chip, which means secure mobile payments, something even the iPhone 5 doesn’t offer.

Eagerly waiting for this news to come out as Samsung launches Galaxy S III teaser, takes deep shot at Apple iOS device users and where the Koreab consumer electrnics giant is giving absolutely nothing away. With the official announcement set for ten days’ time, Samsung has released a couple of short teaser videos, although anybody looking for some solid information will once again be disappointed.

Here’s another amazing report about the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy S3 smartphone that Samsung to announce both at the same time next month May on 3rd, but not accurate yet. The video’s includes mention of the Galaxy, and uses the end of the video to call on consumers to not be sheep and follow the crowd.

The company today launched a new teaser video — the second related to its Unpacked 2012 event — enticing people to acquire “truly smart technology” that can become “a natural part of life.” The company didn’t show off the highly anticipated Galaxy S III, but took viewers through space and found a way to toss in the Galaxy branding in the clip’s text overlay.

However, the Vietnamese concept leak a couple of days ago seemed legitimate enough, the specs released by Amazon – which has the device up for pre-order in Germany – represent the strongest inkling we have as to what Samsung will be announcing. At €599 for the SIM-free version, consumers can expect a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED display accompanied by a mighty 12-megapixel snapper and LED flash, and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via the microSD card slot).

Galaxy S3 is expected to pack Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and of course the specific final design remains an unspecified myth, which the device reportedly to offer a ceramic finish though!

Those who like to multitask may be treated to a 1.5GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos processor, and there’s expected to be LTE capabilities for those residing in a 4G compliant area.

After reading this article on the upcoming new Galaxy device, you will be eager to pre-order by heading over to this link, or wait until May 3rd before making all your decisions clear, stay tuned to Grabi where we will be covering all the event news from start to finish.

Microsoft has released its acquired VoIP repertire “Skype app” for its Windows Phone especially for those who lean the handset side of the mobile world, the official Skype app has not out yet still hanging for a quite a while now. Skype for Windows Phone was first released as a public beta at the end of February this year.

Well! i am an Nokia Lumia 800 user and want to try it, which Micrsosft have finally deemed Skype for Windows Phone a functionality and complete app worthy of a 1.0 version and ready for public consumption. The final 1.0 version of the Skype application has come just in time for all those enthusiastic consumers who are raiding local stores to snap up the Nokia Lumia 900, the latest must have smartphone.

So, today Skype’s fledgling Windows Phone app broke out of beta today, adding contact searching and landline calling to it’s VOIP repertoire. This update came to us of two months of the Beta introduction and boasts some handful of minor improvements that should keep your calls connected.

The Skype app is now live in the Windows Phone Marketplace and brings with it all of the features you would expect from a mobile version of the popular software that was originally created by Niklas Zennström and Janus Friis but subsequently purchased by Microsoft in 2011.

If you’re one of those Windows Phone users, after downloading, you will be able to place voice and video calls to any of their contacts as well as make use of the built-in instant messaging type features to send text based messages. Calls to other Skype users are obviously free of charge with the app not being platform limited, meaning that Windows Phone Skype users can place voice and video calls to any worldwide Skype user, regardless of the platform they are using Skype on.

However, as the full version doesn’t yet have support for receiving calls in the background – if the app isn’t running, your phone isn’t ringing. But, the ability to search through and add new contacts is a welcome feature, with the final release also benefiting from some user interface improvements over the beta version.

Note: The lack of background abilities may prove to be a bit of a deal breaker for lots of users, means that the Skype app actually has to be running for incoming calls to be received.

Keeping in mind, Skype for Windows Phone does seem to perform great over 3G and 4G LTE data connections, and the similar way being extremely functional on either Wi-Fi which you could expect. This Skype implementation would sure to be a welcome addition to the Windows Phone Marketplace for regular users of the well established VoIP service. Hit the source link below to update!

Here comes the awaiting news that the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy S III heading closer, Amazon Germany has already started accepting pre-orders of the SGS3 handset and with no display of any smartphone images, the price and features unveiled are – given Amazon’s rep as an online retailer as confirmation.

Yes 2 days ago a Vietnamese tech site has released a video purporting to be the device, but the samrtphones’s specifications list don’t quit fit with Amazon’s. Yesterday’s leaked specs suggested an 8-megapixel shooter would take the main camera role, here Amazon Germany has mentioned it will include a 12-megapixel camera – stay tuned there’s still to come.

The display will be a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED one, so there will be – as predicted – plenty of screen real-estate for Android users to play around with.

Now know about the price, the unlocked, SIM-free version will retail for €599, which, at the current exchange rate, is just shy of 800 US dollars. While we still believe the Vietnamese leak yesterday to be a legitimate prototype, the labeling of the device suggests it was made in December of last year, since which Samsung will have made quite a few improvements and amendments.

There’s likely to be 16GB of internal storage (expandable via the microSD card slot), while the camera will be further enhanced by an LED flash. In terms of the operating system, we’ll certainly be seeing Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and although Amazon cannot shed any light on the design, it’s likely to offer a ceramic finish.
