The feature implemented into the Facebook is called to be “Listen With Friends” – allowing users to listen music with family all in real time. That means you can also listen to that artist songs along with any friend who is already playing it.

“Look for the music note in the chat sidebar to see which of your friends are listening to music. To listen with a friend, hover over their name, and click the Listen With button. The music will play through the service your friend is using.

When a new song plays, you’ll come along for the ride, discovering new music while your friend DJs for you.”

The Facebook’s feature will definitely add a whole new dimention to using Facebook, by effectively letting friends control their musical joy whilst chatting. Currently, Spotify and Rdio are the only two music players that support Listen With Friends. If a Facebook user attempts to listen in with a friend but does not have the compatible player, they will be prompted to install it.

Google+ released an update to its Android application today, with a fresh set of features including a highly requested search function.

Facebook has released an update for their iPhone and iPad app that fixes the bug that caused the wrong comments to show on some photos.

This is an update is now available in the Apple iTunes App Store that addresses the comment bug. The Facebook iPhone app has now reached version 4.0.3 and jus what we noticed is the fact that it “Fixes an issue that caused incorrect comments to be displayed for certain photos.”

This was by far the most annoying Facebook bug and it request me to see it fixed. undoubtfully, the fix seems to have worked, too! Is it working for you? Which, what bug you would you want to see fixed next?

The report comes straight from the CNN Money “a source close to Gowalla”, that Facebook purchased the Austin-based Gowalla’s location-based social networking site for an undisclosed sum. The majority of Gowalla’s employees, including founder Josh Williams, are set to move from the company’s Austin, Texas, headquarters to Facebook’s in Palo Alto, Calif., to work on Facebook’s Timeline feature, which launched at this year’s F8 conference and is gradually rolling out to Facebook’s 800 million members. according to the report.

Facebook declined to comment on the deal.

“We don’t comment on rumor and speculation,” a company spokesman said.

The Gowalla was launched in the year 2009 and went head-to-head with the direct rival Foursquare – and lost badly trailing Foursqaure network is user adoption, Gowalla recently shifted directions, re-designed itself as a travel guide. The site now raised around $10 million over the years from backers including the Founders fund, Greylock Partners and a collection of angel investors.

The Diaspora was designed to not evenhave its own servers — the computer banks that a centralized website uses to store users’ data. “Diaspora makes sharing clean and easy — and this goes for privacy too,” said the founders on Diaspora’s homepage. “Inherently private, Diaspora doesn’t make you wade through pages of settings and options just to keep your profile secure.”

Actually, Ilya Zhitomirskiy, co-founder of a new social network service called Diaspora, has died in San Francisco at the age of 22. Diaspora project is founded and grouped by four New York University students Dan Grippi, Maxwell Salzberg, Raphael Sofaer and Ilya Zhitomirskiy. The four schoolmates from New York University who started Diaspora in 2010, They billed it as a site that was less centralized and more Personal (private) than the Social networ gaints as Facebook, Twitter and the Google+.

After the word of Zhitomirskiy’s death spread, Diaspora announced it was inviting users to try a new, redesigned experimental version of the service. It had set up a nonprofit foundation to solicit donations for start-up money  but had run into problems. PayPal temporarily suspended transfer of donated payments in October 2010.

When going to the comcept behind the Diaspora, it is distribute the social networking by allowing the users to setup their own platform on their own server or seed to host their content. Diaspora’s distributed network framework works similar to the P2P programs where the dat can be served from user’s own server and have total control over their private data. Without accessing any centralized server, Diaspora’s social network connects directly from Computer to PC with more privacy.

Even though Diaspora, not having centralized server to maintain the friends connection, the selective privacy enables users to have full control over what to share and whom to share data, instead connections will be made from computer to computer set up with Diaspora which is called “Seed”, so any connections made by a friend wqill be in the form of Seed. Using Diaspora Social Network, users can share more information such as content, Media, status, etc privately.

11. Right to know: We will show users how we are using their data and allow them to see who and what has access to their data.
12. Right to self-define: We will allow users to create more than one identity and use pseudonyms. We will not link them without their permission.
13. Right to appeal: We will allow users to appeal punitive actions.
14. Right to withdraw: We will allow users to delete their accounts and remove their data.
