The Chronic Dev Team has released the most wanted untether jailbreak tool called Absinthe 2.0 for public download, so that you can perform an iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak sitting right in front of your Windows, OS X or Linuc computer. Specially for those hanged out with an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad running Apple’s iOS 5.1.1 firmware, here’s no doubt be aware that after weeks of hard work and research, Pod2g and his team has released an untethered jailbreak for all existing iOS devices, but Apple TV 3G excluded though.

According to Pod2g, final compatible idevices supports Absinthe 2.0:

Devices that have been tested to work:

* iPhone 4S
* iPhone 4
* iPhone 3GS
* iPad (3rd Gen)
* iPad 2
* iPad 1
* iPod touch 3G/4G

After best testings made by the Chronic Dev Team have provided the neccessary updates to their latest Absinthe tool, which was originally released back in January, which jailbroken the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 on iOS 5.x for the first time. About Absinthe, its an simple GUI tool which allows users to simply inject the necessary files into their iOS devices so that they can take full advantage from the untethered jailbreak.
Before getting started you have to note some points:

* Make sure to backup your device using iTunes or iCloud before jailbreakinf the device.

* If your iPhone rely on an unlock, don’t update to stock iOS 5.1.1 firmware and for this time simply stay away from Absinthe.

How To Use Absinthe iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak

Step 1: Download Absinthe 2.0 for Windows or Mac OS X.

Step 2: Run Absinthe UJB tool.

Step 3: Connect your device to computer via USB connector running Absinthe, and ensure that the jailbreak tool detects the exact device that you have connected. Make sure your device is turned on and at the Home screen. You do not have to use DFU mode at all.

Step 4: Now click Jailbreak, and let the process complete. You will see your iPhone act as if it’s performing a restore, this is normal, be patient.

Step 5: Once completed, you will receive an alert on Absinthe telling that the jailbreak is successfully completed, and you will see the Cydia app icon on your homescreen. Then unplug your device safely.

Step 6: When you open Cydia, that will prepare for the firsr use. Congrats, your iOS 5.1.1 installed device is now jailbroken with an untethered jailbreak.

What if Apple has released iOS 5.1.1 to the public in the last couple of days, While the legendary dev teams are working hard updating their honored jailbreak tools to recognize the latest iteration of the fruit’s Cupertino’s mobile OS. Going to the past, iH8sn0w a well known iOS developer who is responsible for the production of Sn0wbreeze, iFaith, iReb and f0recast was hard at his work trying to resolve an downgrading issue that has been faced by the owners of the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (A5 processor devices).

When an owner of the 4S or the 2nd-generation iPad tablet updates its devices to the latest version of iOS its really a big issue for users. The problems arise when iDevice owners wish to perform a jailbreak update their software, and leaving them to wait until Dev-Teams produce a working, distributable jailbreak for the new iOS version. While older devices, users will benefit from a firmware downgrade to versions of iOS that Apple no longer sign’s as long as they have a relevant Saved SHSH blobs for the firmware. Today we’re going to talk about the achievement made by the iPhone Dev Team with the possibility of downgrading the iPhone 4S and iPad 2, 3rd-generation iPad owners using the upcoming Redsnow update.

According to the latest tweet from the MuscleNerd via Twitter account, said that the latest version of Redsn0w will include downgrade capabilities for very newest additions to the iDevice roster. This will be a big achievement made by the Dev-Team to provide us with the solution.Having downgrade enabled on A4 devices, the Redsn0w ool is now being brought up faster to allow those dentings to an iPad 2/3 or iPhone 4S to downgrade their software back to an older version. Providing for those already Saved SHSH blobs and APTicket and stored in a safe place.

There are so many reasons to downgraded iOS-powered devices to the earlier versions, however the new iPad didn’t yet got the latest exploit and those running an iPad 2 or iPhone 4S can still enjoy the Absinthe’s untethered jailbreak by reverting to iOS 5.0.1 or earlier. Apple may fix all these jailbreakings (tethered or untethered) in its latest iteration of newer and called the nest iPhone along with the iOS 6 firmware upgrade. may be the hackers are searching for any significant discoveries in favor of increasing the chances of a swift and successful jailbreak of the future firmware.

The upcoming Redsnow update can get support downgrading of iPhone 4S, iPad 2, new iPad 3 and can also be restored without needing iTunes installed. This is a big question from many iPad and iPhone users running the latest iOS 5.1.1 or 5.1 or 5.0.1.

The new version of Redsn0w is yet to be released soon as the latest update for the jailbreaking tool to drop in very soon. We will let you know about the launch and update some useful information with complete instructions after release, so stay tuned to Grabi for the latest jailbreak updates as well as downgrade too.

Apple has rolled out the latest version of iOS ipsw, pushing it to the current 5.1.1 firmware, users have dropped into another thought whether to upgrade to the latest software or not. We an iPhone user use their device without any regular modifications, while the jailbreakers and unlockers who are always lazy when the update notifications come through.

Apple’s iOS updates are pretty scary for those users who require non-Apple approved services. For those who are using their devices in line with the company’s intent, there should be no hesitation in applying the latest iOS 5.1.1 update, while, jailbroken users and those who require a software-based unlock, should certainly wait for a clear view when jumping on the iOS 5.1.1 bandwagon until the dev teams give the good signal. Up to me i am an factory-unlocked iPhone 4S GSM user, so i have no chance to worry about, but those 4S users who are currently benefiting from a hardware-based network unlock using the GEVEY Ultra S interposer, this news of the iOS 5.1.1 update released may have disturbed a lot.

Here’s one good news for all who currently using GSM iPhone 4S owners, that AppleNBerry has has announced and confirmed via their official Twitter account that those users will be safe to update their current firmware to the latest 5.1.1 version without worrying about losing the ability to use the device on any network.

The most innovative feature of going down the Ultra S interposer route is the fact that it doen’t require your device jailbreak, and this point have to be noted that this applies to the GSM models only. The CDMA iPhone 4S model would need to be jailbroken, while for that you have to wait, because there’s no jailbreak available for the iPhone 4S running on iOS 5.1.1. Think, you are very familiar with this method, the GEVEY interposer makes use of an exploit that allows your 4S iPhone to be fully unlocked.

With the new generation of the GEVEY SIM, unlocking the iOS device with your hands is very simply, just fire up the iDevice with the SIM card of your chosen one along with the GEVEY SIM Ultra S and you’ll be unlocked in few minutes time. Before begin the 4S unlocking process, you’ve to keep in mind that using SIM interposer requires you to dial 112, which is illegal in many countries. But, this GEVEY Ultra SIM still looks like a great unlock option for folks with GSM iPhone 4S.

Those who rely on using GEVEY Ultra S GSM interposer for an unlock on a iPhone 4S GSM model, an update to iOS 5.1.1 is undoubtedly safe. For more details you can find the Ultra S in Apple N Berry’s online store for $39.99.

Have you accidentally upgraded your idevice to the Apple’s latest updated version iOS 5.1.1 IPSW firmware and want to downgrade back to the older version 5.0.1 iOS? Here’s iFaith for Windows that can help you downgrading your iOS device from the latest to previous version if you have Saved SHSH blobs for that firmware which you want to go.

Apple actually released the new iOS 5.1.1 to fix some bug issues and small stability improvements for the A5 devices such as iPad 3 and iPhone 4S with Japanese Language support for Siri and fixed issues while taking HDR photos. While this iOS software update wasn’t recommended for those who rely on untethered jailbreak. If you aren’t a jailbreaker and don’t want your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to be jailbroken then you are free to update your devices to 5.1.1 iOS version. Untethered jailbroken devices should stay away from this!

After the roll out of iOS 5.1.1 firmware, i0n1c has performed a jailbreak on his new iPad (3rd-generation) and pushed screenshots showing Cydia 1.1.6 running. Earlier the iPhone Dev Team has launched an updated version of Redsn0w jailbreaking tool to the public for 5.1.1 tethered jailbreak on non-A5 devices like iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation devices. If you are interested in tethered jailbreaking iOS 5.1.1 on A4 iOS devices, please follow our complete guide posted here.

Apart this, this post published for those who want’s their iOS devices to downgrade iOS 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 or iOS 5.0 firmware. To make so simply follow the below given guide on how to downgrade 5.1.1 to iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch using iFaith tool.

What you require before downgrading iOS:

* First you assume that you have already saved both APTicket+SHSH Blobs saved for iOS 5.0.1 or 5.0, you can downgrade your device to a custom iOS firmware and works only on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G/3G. This downgrade will not work for works with iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

* iFaith only works with Windows computer running XP/Vista or Win 7.

Here’s How You Can Downgrade iOS 5.1.1 to 5.0 iOS or 5.0.1

Step 1 : Download the latest iFaith for Windows version from here, official stock iOS 5.0.1 firmware from here.

Step 2 : Build a signed firmware file by clicking on ‘Build *signed* IPSW w/Blobs’. (If you haven’t saved before, now you can simple do it with “Dump SHSH Blobs”).

Step 3: Now “Browse for SHSH blobs file” that you’ve saved previously for your current device to downgrade back to the old iOS 5.0.1/5.0 firmware.

Step 4: Next, iFaith will ask you to select the stock firmware of which you want to create custom firmware file from. Once done, iFaith will have a new custom firmware file for you waiting on desktop with SHSH Blobs incorporated for the firmware you are downgrading to.

Step 5 : Next, enter DFU mode using iFaith and then simply use iTunes to restore to this custom firmware file. For Windows users [Shift+restore] and Mac OS X users [ALT+restore].

That’s it! If you followed the instruction perfectly, you will be now in the older iOS firmware instead being in the latest iOS 5.1.1. Downgrading will be simple if you have saved SHSH blobs of the iOS IPSW.

Its confirmed by several sources that the current latest version of Redsn0w jailbreaking tool can be used to jailbreak Apple’s latest iOS update a tethered on A4 powered devices such as the iPhone 4, iPad 1, iPod touch 4G and 3G, as well as allowing them to continue the access to all the advantages of a liberated iOS device.

The iPhone Dev Team member and developer MuscleNerd has confirmed that Redsn0w can jailbreak 5.1.1 iOS on non-A5 devices to make tethered. Here’s what you looking for, a complete step-by-step guide on jailbreaking your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on iOS 5.1.1 using Redsn0w.

How To Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 Using Redsn0w

Step 1: Download latest version of the iPhone Dev Team’s Redsn0w tool for your operating system PC (Windows / Mac).

Step 2: Before get started, you are adviced to make a backup all the content of your device by connecting iOS device to iTunes and perform it, or you can opt back up the device to iCloud if enabled using this alternative method.

Step 3: After backup completes, upgrade your device’s firmware to iOS 5.1.1. This can be done either via OTA update on your device, or by simply pugging in the device onto your PC or Mac, launching iTunes and accepting and installing the update, or by downloading the iOS 5.1.1 direct links (device-specific firmware file) and manually update/install via iTunes.

Step 4: Download iOS 5.1 (not iOS 5.1.1) IPSW file that suited for the specific device you are using.

Step 5: Locate downloaded Redsnow folder from step 1, unzip the contents and run the executable file to launch Redsn0w.

Step 6: Select ‘Extras’ on Redsn0w GUI and choose the “select IPSW’ option.

Step 7: When prompted, point to IPSW file wich you grabbed from step 4 (the iOS 5.1) and select it.

Step 8: Now go to the main home screen of Redsn0w, select “jailbreak” and then click on next, then when asked, and make sure to select “Install Cydia” option before preceeding.

Step 9: You will now have to put the device into DFU mode. This is a must required process for the jailbreak to be successfully jailbroken. So, make sure to follow all steps carefully.

Step 10: When iDevice in DFU mode (detected), Redsn0w will automatically set all the rest of the process before finishing off on the device. Don’t panic, when the procedure starts you’ll see entirely white lines of text scrolling down the device’s screen. After completion, the device revboots, the jailbreak process is complete which should be witness by the presence of Cydia icon sitting on the iOS device home screen.

Note: This isn’t an untethered jailbreak, but a tether one, so you’ll need to boot your device into tethered boot mode on every restart or reboot. Simply by launching Redsn0w, select “Extras”, then “just boot” in order to boot your device tethered, which is a bit time wasting.

I prefer to wait for the untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak so that it can be automatically done without needing to re-connect to the Redsn0w jailbreak tool to boot device tethered.

The legendary developer i0n1c better known as Stefen Esser in the jailbreak community has teased a snap via Twitter of the third-gen iPad 3 running Cydia on the brand new iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Similar thing done successfully with the iOS 5.1 earlier, but when he will release to public living in the world, we have no idea.

Evertime any new iOS IPSW version releases, its being hard to associate iOS version render which will be most challenging for various dev teams to try it or crack the code. While the third-installment to the iPad series boasts an amazing A5X processor with high-resolution Retina display, and as yet, there’s still no tethered or untethered jailbreak launched for the iPad tablet.

When you see the screenshots, the device is said to be the iPad 3 (AT&T), running the latest iOS 5.1.1 and Cydia 1.1.6. Well, the new iPad isn’t called to be iPad 3. This device actually arrived back in mid-March with awesome reviews, which already features high quality features, but still one eliment missing and taht’s the jailbreak iPad 3.

Back in December and January 2012 – as a demonstration made with the Carona and Absinthe releases as untethered JB on universal levels. While the process of updating their tools to bring tethered jailbreaks to A4 devices, but while talk about the newer Apple gadgets, still working.

Thinking about pod2g’s untethered iOS 5.1 jailbreak still works on the latest iOS 5.1.1 IPSW or not? He will be pushing an update on it soon!

The most popular untethered jailbreak tool from the iPhone Dev Team – Redsn0w has received another major update that gieves ability to users who can honestly test the solution to fix some minor bugs of their iPhone, iPad or iPod touche devices.

My friend asked me about the latest version of Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b whether its an untethered iOS 5.1 jailbreak or not. No! its not, its simply an update that the iPhone-Dev Team has pushed to fix some compatibility issues with the previous version release, and doesn’t contain any new jailbreak exploits though.

But the jailbreak news said that the updated ersion 0.9.10b8b of Redsn0w makes the .zip files more compatible with the native Windows Explorer, which takes exception to leading slashes in the filenames.

The version of Redsn0w has now bumped up to 0.9.10b8b, and updated their official blog with some useful notes as well:

The 0.9.10b8b update to redsn0w makes the zip files more compatible with the native Windows explorer (which doesn’t like leading slashes in the filenames).

I suggested my friend that its a untether jailbreak tool that can perform an untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS with old bootrom, iPad 1, and 3rd/4rth iPod touch devices. First of all you need to connect your iOS device to the computer on every reboot. The iOS 5.1 isn’t yet supported by the latest version of Redsn0w 0.9.10b8b to untether JB on A4 or A5 chip devices like iPhone 4S, iPad 2 or new iPad 3rd-gen.

Note: If you’re running your iDevice on iOS 5.0.1 that’s ok, but if you want to make an untethered jailbreak then don’t update your device to iOS 5.1.

While the Mac version of Redsn0w didn’t get any changes, but the version number is now also uniformly in line with the Windows iteration, and to keep things fine. Both download links can be found below to grab, if you already jailbroken, then no need to re-jailbreak using the tool. If you new and performing jailbreak this for the first time can now follow our step-by-step guide on how-to instructions published here.

If you accidentally updated your iOS device to iOS 5.1 and have already saved SHSH Blobs of 5.0.1 then you can downgrade to iOS 5.0.1 with some l;ittle effort or by using Redsn0w’ latest version 0.9.10b8b.

While the legendary hacker, Pod2g continues to make progress of an untethered jailbreak of his iPhone 5 running iOS 5.1, which is taking more time to launch.

Pod2g Asks For Your Vote! appeared first on Grab Technical Information.

Since last two months the jailbreak fans from the public who have accidentally upgraded their firmware to the latest version are still waiting for the development teams work that will come through all of the issues and produce an untethered jailbreak solution for all the idevices running the latest iOS firmware. Well that for the upcoming jailbreaking and production tools which involved, but the most popular and a legendary hacker Pod2g has now updated his official blog with a public poll. Details below!

He wrote something about the best jailbreak procedure that would be coming in short amount of time as possible which will be then pushed to the general public for a big launch, but there are deeper concerns to take into consideration. You, me and developers all know about the game between the Apple and the jailbreaking community, we never been aware of what will go around the corner. While the fruit company on its WWDC event in a few months to announce a new iPhone and set it for launch at sometime later this year, apart this chances are that we might see the latest iteration of the iOS 6 on that point.

If the launch of the next major version of the operating system comes out that will surely clean off. and to assume that some of the vulnerabilities and exploits that the jailbreak development teams have developed during their research could still be usable when the version is released to the public by Apple. That’s the point keept in mind, Pod2g has updated his blog with a simple question in the hope and asked the opinion from those who already involved in this community.

The French researcher would like to know your opinion about the releasable jailbreak would be better off waiting for Apple to launch iOS 6 before producing it in the hope that all the vulnerabilities that they have produced are still unique in the newer version.

Well the community has pushed by a question and that time when written the poll had around 18500+ votes with 62% of those are interested in the untethered JB to be released immediately. While 34% of those involved can ofcourse see the bigger and want their U-Jailbreak holding off until iOS 6 released and rest of them of 4% like they just never care about.

In my thought as one of the millions of those who enjoyed the freedom that jailbreaking provides, I vote for the second “wait for the latest iOS firmware“, and you head over to the poll station at pod2g-ios-blogspot.co.uk and pin your vote.

Witin one day there were all unusual things happened for those rely in unlocking their iPhones who have been pleasantly surprised with the revelation that all basebands and firmware versions can be carrier unlocked – provided of course that said device is jailbroken.

First the bingner Cydia repo facilitating the method has been almost ground to a halt by those looking for an unlock. The significance of the SAM unlock cannot be underestimated, and with users seemingly prepared to pay hundreds for a permanent solution through CutYourSim, nobody could have foreseen such a simple, effective (and free) method releasing to the public in this manner. So that all iPhone users sat in any baseband and firmware version were able to unlock simple by installing and following the procedure.

A good day for the Cydia-based community is never complete without some intervention from the iPhone-Dev Team, though, and the team has released an update to its Redsn0w jailbreaking tool allowing users of the SAM unlock tool to back up their activation tickets for safekeeping.

These steps as per the tutorial, detailing about the SAM unlock, users were required to manually backup activation tickets, but in this one-click culture, Redsn0w has made things even easier. You can get the version 0.9.10b8, which is freely sitting at the bottom of this post, it houses the ability to backup arbitrary directories or files into a zip file on your Mac or PC.

Heres three simple steps for simple way to backup:

Step 1 : Assume that your device has the afc2 service enabled. If not yet available, you can grab it from the ModMyi repository in Cydia. While most Jailbreak cater to it!

Step 2 : After launching Redsn0w, navigate through Extras > Even More > Backup

Step 3 : Here’s it. By default, Redsn0w will backup your activation records from /var/root/Library/Lockdown, and without going into too much detail, it leaves your device’s future unlock status in good stead.

The iPhone Dev Team has promised to comment on the SAM unlock, and in jailbreak terms, it’s almost like waiting for an official press release! To grab information on what’s next, stay tuned to Grabi once that info does surface we will let you know as update.
