ARCHOS Launches New Android And Windows Phone & Tablet Devices Ahead of IFA 2014

A French electronics company, ARCHOS has officially made an announcement of two Android smartphones (the Archos 45c Platinum and 50b Platinum), one Android tablet (the Archos 101 Oxygen), one Windows Phone 8.1 device (the Archos 40 Cesium), and one Windows 8.1 tablet (Archos 80 Cesium) on Tuesday, the August 27.


Launch countries for the newly announced Android and Windows Phone devices have not been detailed, though. Pricing for all the products are listed in GBP, implying a launch in The UK. Further, the company will detail about the devices at IFA 2014.

About the 2 new Android smartphone and tablet

The Archos 45c Platinum runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It includes a 4.55-inch FWVGA  (480×854 pixels) display; a 1.3GHz quad-core (unknown chipset) processor; 512MB of RAM; a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; 2MP front-facing sensor, comes with 4GB of built-in storage with microSD card slot, and packs a 1700mAh battery.

archos_50b_platinum_pressThe Archos 50b Platinum features a 5-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) display, runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat and its a dual-SIM handset, powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM, includes a 4GB internal storage, sports with an 8-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP selfie camera, and flaunt with a 1900mAh battery.

Archos two new Android smartphones – 45c Platinum is priced at GBP 99 (around Rs. 9,900) and the 50b Platinum priced at GBP 119 (roughly Rs. 11,900).

archos_101_oxygen_pressThe Archos 101 Oxygen tablet runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and sports with a 10.1-inch 1080×1920 pixels) display. It is powered by a quad-core ARM Cortex A17 processor (unknown clock-speed) coupled with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Archos 101 Oxygen – is priced at GBP 199 (approximately Rs. 19,900) and will go on sale in October.
Archos Windows Phone handset and Win 8.1 Tablet

archos_40_cesium_pressThe Archos 40 Cesium smartphone – an affordable handset comes running on Windows Phone 8.1 and to sport an ultra-clear 4-inch display and powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. It comes in three coloured back covers – Yellow, Blue and Black. Priced at GBP 79 (approximately Rs. 7,900).

The ARCHOS 80 Cesium comes with an 8-inch (800×1280 pixels) IPS screen, powered by quad-core Intel processor. Runs on Windows 8.1 OS, and the Archos 80 Cesium Windows 8.1 tablet is priced at GBP 129 (approximately Rs. 12,900). The Windows Phone smartphone will be available in September and the Windows tablet in October.
