Microsoft Chief strategy and research officer Craig Mundie explained that Apple’s Siri is nothing special and the Microsoft says Windows Phone 7 has long had Siri-like voice functionality over a year with its TellMe Voice recognition service.
In an interview hosted by Forbes’ Eric Savitz, he said that Siri’s capabilities is not what is attracting iPhone 4S user, but what the iPhone can do with it and Siri’s cuccess ows back to the marketing. Mundie said, “The TellMe facility has been in WP7 for more than a year. I just think people are infatuated with Apple announcing it… You’re right it’s good marketing but at least as a technological capability you could argue that Microsoft has had a similar capability in Windows Phones for more than a year, since Windows Phone 7 was introduced… All that’s already there, fully functional, been there for a year.”
So, to test what Mundie said, a video was made testing the performance of Microsoft’s TellMe service in juxtaposition to that of Apple’s Siri. After watching this video tells everything for itself.
