The first Gold Master candidate for the OS X Yosemite is still labeled as a pre-release version of OS X 10.10, and the Yosemite GM is now available to developers. Suggesting that its end user release could be just a matter of weeks away. First Candidate 1.0 of OS X Yosemite GM follows a similar aesthetic approach to iOS 7, with various UI elements having been flattened out and generally cleaned up for a minimal, crisp finish. It’s is released to download, which arrives as Build 14A379a – downloaded from the Mac App Store and via Apple’s Mac Dev Center. Apple alongside OS X Yosemite Gold Master, also seeded Xcode 6.1 GM and a new version of OS X Server 4.0 DP (developer preview).
Apple, instead continuing to post ‘incremental’ updates through the past few revisions, it was widely assumed that Yosemite’s changelog would only contain those face-value alterations, it has learned at the Worldwide Developers’ Conference, treated, OS X 10.10 Yosemite as a generous dose of new features.
Apple has already rolled out the final iOS 8 version of its mobile operating system, and with the Continuity inclusions only furthering the tie-in between Apple’s two major platforms. Still got plenty of other additions to the fold besides, including enhancements to Mail and Messages as well as the Safari browser, and all that remains for Yosemite now is the MAC debut.
Although, OS X Yosemite brings a flatter, more modern look to OS X, with an emphasis on translucency and redesigned dock, windows, and more. Alongside, the Continuity, a new “Today” view in Notification Center that offers integration with third-party apps, a retooled Spotlight search with new data sources added into the list.
Released as a Developer Preview, has also added new abilities and refined the look and performance of OS X Yosemite, and Apple begins finalizing Yosemite ahead of its public launch, which is evidently expected in late October. No idea, whether the current build may or may not be a final version of OS X Yosemite, depending on the outcome of final testing.
Today’s roll out of the Candidate Golden Master suggests that the development stage is all-but over, and the company will deliver a second GM last time around with Mavericks, the latest build could well be final version.
However, the Golden Master Candidate (also known as Developer Preview 9). Just look ahead to officially updating over the next couple of weeks. Public release on October 22.
Update X1: Apple has also released the fourth public beta of OS X Yosemite, which comes with a slightly different build number of 14A379b compared to the GM candidate build distributed to developers.
Both the developer and public beta releases include the fix for the “Shellshock” bash security flaw. Apple released fixes for OS X Mavericks, Mountain Lion, and Lion yesterday.
