Google although this year launched a set of Android One initiatives, which has so far been compromised of three smartphones: Micromax Canvas A1, the Karbonn Sparkle V, and the Spice Bream Uno. All the three Android One-powered smartphones got the same software and hardware specifications, which were specified by Google. Notably, their unique selling point is supposed to be the fact that Google itself will handle any OS updates.
About the latest Android version update, aka Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA for the One smartphones, Google has been extremely quite and hasn’t confirmed any date on when it would issue the over-the-air Lollipop update for the Android One devices. However, Spice says it will deliver the Lollipop upgrade for its Dream Uno by the end of January next year.
Expecting that the time frame of the roll out will be the same for the other two Android One phones. Also suspected that the update may come a bit sooner, as an unnamed source inside Google reportedly told an Indian publication that it could land as early as mid-December this year.
The Nexus devices afterall received their Lollipop flavor already, but some owners of the Android One handsets may have been wondering what’s going on. Point to be noted, the fact that Google is handling updates does mean these phones will be getting updated to the new OS versions, but it doesn’t mean that they’ll be getting as faster as the Nexus line-up.
One thing is sure and assumed that Google will definitely roll out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Android One smartphones soon…… Stay tuned!
